How to Dismantle the Shell of a Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

Dismantling the shell of a container house requires following a professional process to ensure safety and environmental protection. The specific steps are as follows:

I. Tool Preparation and Dismantling Sequence Planning

  1. Tool Preparation:
    • General Tools: Wrenches, screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, pliers, rubber mallets, electric screwdrivers, or low-speed drills for removing bolt connections.
    • Cutting Tools: Oxygen-acetylene cutting torches or plasma cutters (for cutting metal components).
    • Lifting Equipment: Depending on the site conditions, gantry cranes or container forklifts can be selected for moving heavy components.
  2. Dismantling Sequence Planning:
    • Follow the principle of "top to bottom, outside to inside," prioritizing the removal of wall panels and roof panels, then handling purlins and bolt connections, and finally decomposing the frame structure.

II. Safety Protection Measures

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Workers must wear safety helmets, protective goggles, earplugs, anti-slip gloves, and safety shoes.
  2. High-Altitude Work Protection: If removing top or high components, scaffolding should be erected and safety nets laid to prevent falls.
  3. Fire Prevention and Ventilation: Clear flammable materials from the site and ensure good ventilation in the work area to prevent fires caused by cutting sparks.
  4. Weather Restrictions: Work is prohibited in windy, rainy, snowy, or thunderstorm conditions to prevent equipment malfunction or personnel slipping.

III. Specific Dismantling Steps

  1. Door and Window Removal: Unscrew the fixing screws with a screwdriver and gently push to remove doors and windows, avoiding violent pulling that could cause deformation.
  2. Side and Roof Panel Removal:
    • Cut the sealant or rivets along the edges of the side panels, controlling the cutting depth (to avoid damaging the internal frame).
    • For the roof panels, first cut the connections with the purlins, then remove them with the assistance of lifting equipment.
  3. Floor Panel Removal: Cut the welds or bolts connecting the floor panels to the frame, remove them in sections, and place them in designated areas.
  4. Frame Decomposition: Unscrew the high-strength bolts or welds connecting the frame to the main body, and decompose the columns, beams, and other components.
  5. Bolt Handling: Remove high-strength bolts, embedded bolts, and steel plates in sequence, and store them separately for recycling.

IV. Material Handling and Recycling

  1. Reusable Materials: Sort and organize metal sheets, wood, bolts, etc., for subsequent repairs or the second-hand market.
  2. Waste Disposal: Materials that cannot be reused (such as damaged insulation cotton, worn-out rubber strips) should be disposed of by professional agencies in an environmentally friendly manner to avoid soil or water pollution.

Precautions:

  • Before dismantling, assess the structural stability. If there is severe corrosion or deformation, a special reinforcement plan should be formulated.
  • Teamwork is crucial. Solo operation of high-altitude lifting or heavy component disassembly is strictly prohibited.
  • Modular container houses can be disassembled according to standardized components to improve efficiency and reduce losses.
