How to Dismantle Container House Walls
The dismantling of container house walls should be carried out in accordance with their modular steel structure characteristics, following safety operation procedures to avoid damaging the stability of the main frame.

1. Confirm Wall Type and Structure Before Dismantling
Container house walls are usually made of color-steel sandwich panels (with thermal insulation material in the middle) and are fixed to the steel frame with bolts or rivets. It is necessary to determine whether the wall to be dismantled is a non-load-bearing structure: If the wall is an independent module (such as a partition wall), and its removal does not affect the overall structural stability, the operation can be carried out; if the wall is welded to the main frame or bears part of the load (such as end walls and corner columns), it is necessary to contact the manufacturer or a professional engineer to assess the risks. Unauthorized dismantling may lead to frame deformation or even collapse.
2. Construction Preparation and Safety Measures
- Power Cut and Protection: Turn off the main power supply of the house to avoid the danger of touching the circuit during the dismantling process; construction personnel should wear safety helmets, goggles, and dust masks, and set up warning signs and close off the work area on site.
- Tool Selection: Use electric wrenches, angle grinders, and other tools to dismantle the fixed bolts/rivets, avoiding violent hammering; if the wall is welded to the frame, use gas-cutting equipment for cutting, but clean up the surrounding flammable materials in advance and equip with fire extinguishers.
- Material Cleaning: After dismantling, promptly clean up the fragments of the sandwich panels (which may contain harmful substances such as glass fibers) to avoid stab wounds or inhalation of dust; check the rust condition of the retained parts of the steel frame and carry out anti-corrosion treatment if necessary.
3. Key Precautions
- Prohibit Damaging the Main Frame: The steel frame of the container is the core load-bearing component, and any cutting or drilling behavior must be strictly avoided, otherwise it will weaken the overall strength.
- Prioritize Modular Dismantling: If the house needs to be relocated as a whole, it should be operated in reverse according to the manufacturing process (first dismantle the doors and windows and circuits, and then separate the walls from the frame), retaining the integrity of the components for secondary use.
- Compliance Review: Some container houses may involve temporary building approvals. Before dismantling, it is necessary to confirm whether it is necessary to report to the property management or relevant departments.
4. Special Scenario Handling
If water and electricity pipelines are embedded in the wall, turn off the corresponding valves first and take photos to record the pipeline locations to avoid damaging the pipelines during dismantling; for folding container houses, expand or fold the structure according to the instructions before dismantling the wall modules.
