How to Disassemble a Portable Toilet
Admin September 22, 2026
The disassembly of a portable toilet requires selecting the appropriate method based on its type. Below are the disassembly steps for common portable plastic toilets and smart toilets:

I. Disassembly of Portable Plastic Toilets
Preparation Before Disassembly
- Ensure there is no residual waste in the toilet. If the waste storage tank contains deodorizers or coagulants, empty and rinse it thoroughly first.
- Spray the surface of the toilet with a chlorine-based disinfectant (such as 1:50 diluted bleach solution) and let it sit for 5 minutes to kill bacteria and reduce the risk of bacterial spread during disassembly.
Component Separation Steps
- Releasing the Fixing Device: Most plastic toilets are connected to the support frame via rotating snap fasteners (usually marked with the word “PUSH”). Press and hold the fastener and rotate it counterclockwise by half a turn to separate it. If it is a quick-release button design (such as models from Jinshukang, Anshubao, etc.), pressing the button allows the support frame to be folded into a flat shape measuring 70×40cm.
- Removing the Hoses: The exhaust pipe or splash-proof hose connected at the back needs to be gently pried open at the plastic compression ring at the interface using a flat-head screwdriver, and then the hose is pulled straight up.
- Separating the Seat Cushion Assembly: Flip open the toilet seat cover, observe the metal shaft at the hinge, and use needle-nose pliers to grip both ends of the shaft and slowly pull it out. Be sure to keep the rubber shock pads to avoid losing them.
Special Handling and Recycling
- For toilets used by the elderly, it is recommended to soak the screw holes in a 1:50 bleach solution for 20 minutes to thoroughly remove residual dirt and prevent odors.
- For new models that use a combination of environmentally friendly PP material and ABS engineering plastic, they can be sorted and placed in plastic recycling bins according to community requirements after disassembly.
- If you encounter a model that cannot be disassembled, you can call the manufacturer using the production number stamped on the bottom of the toilet. Most companies offer free on-site recycling services.
II. Disassembly of Smart Toilets (Upper Cover Only)
- Opening the Seat and Cover: Fully open the seat and cover to expose the underlying structure.
- Removing the Fixing Screws: Take off the two white pads under the seat, use a screwdriver to remove the two screws below, and then sequentially remove the hidden screws inside.
- Separating the Cover from the Ceramic Body: Gently lift the lower part of the machine with both hands, move the cover forward to the back of the machine, and sequentially remove three water pipes and two connecting wires (the white wire connects to the battery and controls the foot-kick module, and the wire needs to be separated by loosening the nut and pulling it).
Precautions: The disassembly of smart toilets must strictly follow the steps to avoid damaging the circuits or water pipes. If internal circuit repairs are involved, it is recommended to contact professional personnel for operation.
