How to Decorate Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The decoration of prefabricated houses involves adjusting the height of wooden strips, ceiling, flooring, water and electricity renovation, thermal insulation, sound insulation, and house reinforcement.

  1. Adjusting the Height of Wooden Strips: After installing all wooden strips, adjust their heights. Since the height of each beam in the house varies, adjustments must be made using wooden strips to ensure that the final installation height of the gypsum board is on the same plane, preventing cracking. Additionally, wooden strips can be used for running electrical wires, which can pass through the gaps between the strips. When adjusting, first find the lowest point of all wooden strips in the room and adjust the others downward to the same height. Use a slow electric screwdriver for adjustments and a level for assistance.
  2. Ceiling Decoration: Avoid installing a ceiling if possible; simply apply lines and whitewash. If a ceiling must be installed, opt for lightweight materials and avoid using expansion screws; instead, use wooden plugs, considering the load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated floor slab. The ceiling system can utilize a direct installation process with finished corner lines, forming a complete ceiling structure with calcium silicate board paving.
  3. Flooring Decoration: For living rooms and bedrooms, avoid using materials like marble and granite; instead, use floor tiles or wooden flooring to reduce the load-bearing pressure on the floor slab.
  4. Water and Electricity Renovation: Renovating water and electricity circuits facilitates normal daily use. Try to obtain the original architectural drawings of the house to understand the layout and installation positions of various pipelines and wiring, avoiding water leakage or electric shock during construction. Additionally, check the quality of water pipes and electrical wires, replacing rusty faucets and wires that do not meet quality standards or cannot meet usage requirements.
  5. Thermal Insulation and Heat Insulation Engineering Decoration: Prefabricated houses often have poor thermal insulation and heat insulation effects. During decoration, add thermal insulation and heat insulation layers. For wall insulation, use thermal insulation paint or install insulation boards; for houses on the top floor, also perform heat insulation decoration on the roof.
  6. Sound Insulation Decoration: Some old prefabricated houses have poor sound insulation effects. During decoration, renovate the windows by replacing them with insulated glass or vacuum-type glass and using seals on the window frames to reduce outdoor noise pollution.
  7. House Reinforcement: After years of use, old prefabricated houses may have structural damage and poor load-bearing capacity. Before decoration, perform overall reinforcement on the house. Use steel wire mesh and concrete to create a reinforcement layer on the floor slab to improve overall stability, and also reinforce the walls, beams, and columns.
