How to Decorate Container Houses
The decoration of container houses should combine structural characteristics with functional requirements, achieving comfort and practicality through scientific planning. Here are specific decoration plans:

1. Frame Production and Installation The original structure of container houses is a metal frame, and wooden auxiliary frames need to be added internally to enhance decoration flexibility. Using standard-sized wooden beams to splice frames and fixing them with pneumatic nail guns can significantly improve production efficiency while ensuring the verticality and levelness of the frames meet installation requirements. The frame spacing should be designed according to the size of the wall materials. For example, the conventional size of waterproof boards is 1.2m×2.4m, and the frame spacing should be controlled within 60cm to enhance stability.
2. Wall and Roof Treatment
- Wall Installation: Waterproof boards are preferred as wall materials. Their surfaces can be directly painted with environmentally friendly coatings or wallpapered, eliminating the need for traditional waterproof cloth laying. If enhanced sound insulation is required, glass wool or rock wool can be filled between the waterproof boards and the metal walls of the container.
- Roof Design: When installing windows, the corresponding areas of the top frame need to be cut out, and new outer frames should be made and equipped with eaves gutters to prevent rainwater from flowing backward. Solar photovoltaic panels can be laid on the roof, with reserved wiring channels and inverters configured to achieve self-sufficiency in electricity. If the budget is limited, color steel plates or asphalt shingles can also be used for waterproofing.
3. Insulation and Heat Insulation Systems Choose insulation plans according to climatic conditions:
- Cold Regions: Walls, roofs, and floors (except glass areas) need to be laid with 5-10cm thick polystyrene foam boards or polyurethane spray coatings. Windows should use triple-glazed insulating glass (U-value ≤ 1.0W/㎡·K) to improve thermal resistance.
- Hot Regions: Reflective heat-insulating coatings should be added to the roof, and adjustable blinds or sunshades should be installed inside the walls, combined with small ventilation fans to achieve air circulation.
4. Space Optimization Design
- Storage System: Use foldable wall beds (saving daytime space), customized cabinets (utilizing the corner areas of containers), and open metal shelves (strong load-bearing and transparent).
- Lighting Enhancement: Install large floor-to-ceiling windows on the long sides of the container (it is recommended to use broken bridge aluminum frames), and install roof skylights on the short sides (automatic opening and closing devices are required to prevent rainwater). The interior should use light-colored tones as the main color to reflect light.
5. Decoration Style and Safety
- Style Selection: Minimalist style is the mainstream, with wooden furniture paired with gray-white walls, and local embellishments with green plants or art paintings. If heating equipment is required, a small biomass pellet stove wrapped in fireproof and burn-resistant materials can be installed.
- Safety Regulations: The electrical system needs to be independently grounded, and sockets should be installed with splash-proof boxes; gas equipment needs to be equipped with gas alarms; structural modifications should avoid damaging the load-bearing beams of the container (usually located at the corners and middle).
6. Acceptance and Maintenance After decoration is completed, airtightness tests (using smoke generators to check for air leaks after closing doors and windows) and waterproof tests (spraying water on the roof for 2 hours to observe for leaks) need to be conducted. Daily maintenance requires regular inspection of the cleanliness of solar panels, the aging of sealing strips, and the tightness of frame connectors.
