How to Choose a Toilet Sliding Door

Admin October 05, 2026

When choosing a toilet sliding door, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as space adaptability, installation restrictions, size, door opening method, door casing, glass, and hardware quality.

Space adaptability: If the bathroom space is limited, a sliding door is a good choice to save space. For small spaces, a single-leaf sliding door is suitable. If the space is ample, a swing door offers better airtightness and privacy, preventing the door from hitting the toilet or washbasin when opened.

Installation restrictions and safety: Before installation, consider the height and width of the wall. A door opening height below 1.95 meters can make people feel oppressed. For a suspended sliding door, there should be at least 12 centimeters of height at the top. The height of the bathroom wall should be at least 207 centimeters. Meanwhile, the track material and pulley quality affect the usage effect. Poor-quality pulleys may lead to safety hazards such as derailment, so choose reliable ones.

Size selection: The thickness and size of the sliding door should be flexibly selected according to the size of the bathroom. The standard door opening width is 700mm, and a single-sided door requires a clear width of 650mm. Large sliding doors usually have thicknesses of 50MM, 75MM, or 100MM, while small sliding doors often have thicknesses of 50MM, 40MM, or 35MM. The extra parts on both sides of the door frame are usually 5 - 15mm, and the door panel size depends on the selected material.

Door opening method: For compact living spaces, a sliding door design is suitable, but the wall conditions need to be considered in advance. For a hidden sliding door, sufficient space should be reserved in the wall to hide the door leaves. It is advisable to choose a top-hung track style to avoid tripping and dirt accumulation.

Door casing selection: Door casings are divided into single casings and double casings. Single casings have low costs and a minimalist visual appearance but require high tile-laying skills from bricklayers. Double casings have complete edge closures and high installation error tolerance, but the frame appears slightly thicker. If the budget is limited and a minimalist effect is desired, a single casing can be chosen. For a more reliable option, a double casing is preferred.

Glass selection: Do not just focus on the pattern and style; consider privacy, light transmission, and safety. Regardless of the type of glass, choose tempered glass with 3C certification for greater safety.

Hardware quality: Bathrooms are humid with a lot of water vapor, and hardware fittings directly determine the service life of the door. Do not blindly reduce the budget and ignore the hardware quality.
