How to Choose a Portable Toilet
Admin September 21, 2026
Choosing a portable toilet requires comprehensive consideration of the usage scenario, material craftsmanship, and sewage disposal method. Here are the specific steps:

I. Select the Appropriate Model Based on the Usage Scenario
Different scenarios have significantly different functional requirements for portable toilets, so it is essential to match the characteristics of the scenario first:
- Construction sites, temporary construction sites, or short-term events: These scenarios have a short usage period and high personnel turnover. It is recommended to choose a simple steel-structured portable toilet. It has a sturdy structure, is easy to assemble and disassemble, can be transported repeatedly, and requires simple daily maintenance, enabling a quick response to temporary needs.
- Scenic spots, parks, or cultural and tourism parks: These places have high requirements for environmental aesthetics and cleanliness. It is recommended to choose an assembled landscape portable toilet. It has a simple and elegant appearance, good sealing performance, can effectively reduce the accumulation of odors, and has better coordination with the surrounding environment.
- Rural outdoors, camping bases, or sites without a pipeline network: These places lack a complete sewer pipeline system and require a pipeline-free ecological portable toilet. It does not require complex civil engineering construction, can be used immediately after being placed on the ground, has a reasonable sewage disposal design, and features anti-leakage and easy-to-clean characteristics, making it suitable for suburban environments.
- Sports events, exhibitions, or large-scale team-building activities: These events have a high density of short-term personnel flow and require a multi-compartment portable toilet. It has a sufficient number of toilet stalls, high personnel turnover efficiency, strong load-bearing capacity, and can avoid queuing and congestion.
II. Focus on Checking the Material Craftsmanship to Ensure Durability
The material craftsmanship directly affects the service life of the portable toilet and the later maintenance cost. Pay attention to the following core components:
- Main frame: High-quality products mostly use a hot-dip galvanized square steel welded frame, which has strong wind, sun, and corrosion resistance, and is not prone to deformation or paint peeling and rusting after long-term outdoor placement; ordinary thin iron sheets or thin-walled square tube frames have a low cost but are prone to rusting and loosening, with a high frequency of maintenance and low cost-effectiveness.
- Exterior wall panels: Metal carved panels have the best comprehensive performance, combining thermal insulation, waterproofing, and corrosion resistance functions, and are suitable for municipal, scenic spot, and other scenarios; color steel panels are lightweight and cost-effective, suitable for short-term use on construction sites; landscape modeling panels have a higher appearance and are suitable for gardens or cultural and tourism scenic spots.
- Internal configuration: The basic configuration should include anti-slip and wear-resistant floors, odor-proof ceramic sanitary ware, ventilation and air exchange equipment, energy-saving lighting, privacy door locks, and storage hooks. Sealing craftsmanship and odor-proof design are crucial to avoid problems such as odor backflow and mosquito breeding in the later stage.
III. Choose the Sewage Disposal Method According to the Site Conditions
The sewage disposal method needs to match the pipeline network conditions of the site; otherwise, it may lead to the inability to use the toilet normally after installation:
- With a municipal pipeline network or septic tank: Give priority to choosing a water-flushing direct-discharge type, which is directly connected to the municipal system through pipelines, with high cleanliness and simple operation and maintenance.
- Without a pipeline network or in remote areas: Choose a pipeline-free bagging type or microbial degradation type. The former collects excrement through degradable bags and replaces them regularly; the latter uses microorganisms to decompose feces, does not require frequent cleaning, but has a higher cost.
- Temporary events or emergency scenarios: A foam sealing type can be selected, which reduces odors by covering them with foam and is suitable for short-term high-flow usage, but requires regular replenishment of foam liquid.
