How to Build Prefabricated Panel Houses

Admin September 19, 2026

The construction methods for prefabricated panel houses mainly fall into two categories: those using concrete prefabricated panels as the main components and those using prefabricated panels to build wooden house frames. The specific construction processes are as follows:

Construction Method Using Concrete Prefabricated Panels as the Main Components

  1. Panel Production: Factories create molds using wooden boards and arrange distribution and load-bearing reinforcement bars (such as steel strands) inside. The pre-tensioning process is employed to pre-stretch the reinforcement bars to the designed strength before pouring concrete. During pouring, vibrating rods are used to remove air bubbles, ensuring a dense structure. Subsequently, the panels are cured through high-temperature steam curing or natural curing to enhance their strength. Prefabricated panels come in two types: solid and hollow. The hollow structure achieves lightweighting by reducing non-load-bearing concrete, and its internal hollow design allows for the reservation of spaces for cables or sewage pipes.
  2. On-site Assembly: The prefabricated panels are transported to the construction site and positioned and installed using lifting equipment. Walls, floors, and other components are spliced together using pre-embedded reinforcement bars or connectors to form an integrated structure. For hollow panels, attention must be paid to the pre-embedded positions of pipelines to avoid damaging the structure through later chiseling.
  3. Curing and Acceptance: After assembly, curing is required to ensure that the concrete reaches the designed strength. During acceptance, the firmness of component connections, the rationality of pipeline layouts, and the structural load-bearing capacity are inspected.

Construction Method Using Prefabricated Panels to Build Wooden House Frames

  1. Frame Construction: Prefabricated panels are used as the basic frame. After reserving positions for doors and windows, the roof structure is assembled into a circular tray and fixed at the center of the house. The roof frame is connected to the walls using square timbers to form a conical structure, ensuring smooth drainage.
  2. Sealing Treatment: The roof closure is filled with foam boards and sealed with foam agents to prevent rainwater leakage. Waterproof foam boards are fixed to the exterior walls, followed by the laying of waterproof tarpaulins. Internal gaps are filled with sealing materials to enhance thermal insulation and moisture resistance.
  3. Decoration and Finishing: After completing the basic structure, interior and exterior wall decorations (such as wooden boards or gypsum boards) are carried out. Doors, windows, and water and electricity pipelines are installed, ultimately creating a habitable space.

Both methods must strictly adhere to design specifications to ensure structural safety. Concrete prefabricated panel houses are suitable for multi-story buildings, emphasizing load-bearing capacity and durability. Wooden house frames, on the other hand, focus more on lightness and flexibility, making them suitable for low-rise or temporary buildings.
