How to Build Prefabricated Panel Houses
Admin September 19, 2026
The construction process of prefabricated panel houses mainly consists of two stages: prefabricated panel manufacturing and house assembly.

Prefabricated Panel Manufacturing
- Initial Preparation: Workers first create a围挡 (enclosure) using steel plates. After tightening the screws at the four corners, they use a spray gun to apply a release agent along the steel plates to prevent the formed concrete from sticking to the panels.
- Rebar Installation: Distribution rebars are installed, which are rebars suspended from above, with dimensions corresponding to the interior space. Main rebars, made of steel strands woven from steel wires, are also installed. These have higher tensile strength compared to ordinary deformed steel bars, and there are 3-centimeter-diameter anchorages on both sides of the steel strands.
- Concrete Pouring and Prestressing Treatment: The pre-tensioning method is employed. Equipment is used to stretch the rebars to a certain strength (prestress), and then the prepared concrete is poured in. After the concrete sets, the retraction force of the rebars compresses the concrete, giving it extremely high tensile strength.
- Special Treatment and Curing: In some prefabricated panel manufacturing processes, large foam blocks are inserted. Workers first lay a 4-centimeter-thick layer of cement, then place the large foam blocks inside, securing the connections with iron hooks before pouring concrete. After pouring, workers use vibrating rods to vibrate back and forth to expel all the air bubbles inside. Then, the entire panel is sent to a 'sauna room' on the underground minus-first floor for four hours of high-temperature steam curing. Alternatively, it can be directly covered with a waterproof membrane for one day of natural curing. After it hardens, it is precisely cut using a CNC electric saw. Prefabricated panels can also be made by nailing wooden models, laying out rebars, and pouring cement, coming in solid and hollow types. The hollow structure achieves lightweighting by reducing non-load-bearing concrete.
House Assembly
- Frame Assembly: The basic frame of the house is assembled using prefabricated panels, with the door position reserved and precisely cut in place.
- Roof Construction: The roof structure is directly assembled to form a circular tray, which is then placed at the center of the house. It is connected to the walls using square timbers on all sides to form a complete roof structure. The roof has a conical shape. After each piece of material is firmly fixed, wooden boards are installed. At the top closure, foam boards of the corresponding size are placed first, and foam agents are injected into the gaps. Then, small wooden boards are used for sealing and fixation. The excess protruding parts at the edges are cut off and polished smooth.
- Wall Treatment: The interior and exterior walls of the house are filled and sealed with foam agents. An elliptical frame is installed and fixed at the top as a roof skylight. A layer of waterproof foam is fixed on the exterior walls, followed by an overall layer of waterproof tarpaulin. The gaps between the wooden boards of the interior walls are tightly filled and sealed. Custom-made acrylic panels are installed, and excess foam glue is cleaned up. The waterproof tarpaulin is laid in place at the top, especially with meticulous treatment at the corners.
