How to Build Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

There are various ways to build prefabricated houses, including modular construction, prefabricated component assembly, prefabricated panel construction, and the construction of prefabricated detachable container houses.

Modular Construction Method: The entire building is disassembled into multiple independent modules, which are manufactured in a factory, covering internal structures such as ceilings, floors, walls, and water and electricity pipelines. Taking the China Construction Haolong Intelligent Construction Industrial Park in Shenzhen, Guangdong, as an example, the ceilings, walls, and waterproof layers of bathrooms in the houses are all made in the factory. Afterward, these modules are transported to the construction site and assembled like building blocks. Compared to traditional construction, this method can significantly shorten the construction period by more than 60%, greatly improving construction efficiency.

Prefabricated Component Assembly Method: Taking a rural villa with its main structure completed in 14 days as an example, the foundation is first leveled and a cushion layer is poured. Then, foundation piles are installed and crossbeams are assembled, with a mortise-and-tenon joint structure used for quick connection between the crossbeams. The stairs are hoisted and installed like building blocks, followed by laying a 5-centimeter-thick floor slab. Finally, grouting is applied to the gaps between all components to ensure structural stability and tightness.

Prefabricated Panel Construction Method: A beautiful wooden house can be built in just five days. Craftsmen first use prefabricated panels to build the basic framework of the house and reserve a space for the main door. The roof structure is directly assembled into a circular tray, placed at the center of the house, and then connected to the walls with square timbers around it to form a complete roof structure. The floor, walls, etc., are also installed using prefabricated panels and sealed with foam agents to ensure the house's thermal insulation and sound insulation effects.

Construction Method of Prefabricated Detachable Container Houses: First, install the bottom frame by connecting the lower corner fittings and bottom beams, placing the crossbars and fixing them with bolts, and measuring the diagonals to ensure verticality before connecting the bottom crossbars. Then, connect the columns to the bottom frame, leaving some play by not tightening the bolts completely, and lay MGO boards to level the ground. Next, install the top frame by connecting the upper corner fittings to the top longitudinal beams and tightening the bolts, then connecting the upper corner fittings to the columns, the top transverse beams to the upper corner fittings, using a level to measure the verticality of the columns, installing top crossbar supports for adjustment, and reinforcing the intersections of the top crossbars. After that, install the drainage system, paste sealing strips on the inner sides of the columns, bottom beams, and top beams, install the wall panels in sequence, and change the positions and sizes of doors and windows according to requirements. When installing the ceiling, fix it differently depending on whether there are wall panels on both sides, drill holes on the inner sides of the walls to fix the wires, and lay glass wool and roof tiles.
