How to Assemble a Simple Portable Toilet

Admin October 08, 2026

Assembling a simple portable toilet can be achieved through the following three methods:

I. Using a Water Storage Drum

  1. Basic Structure Construction: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage drum vertically along the middle, creating two half-drums. Install universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board and fix the board to the top side of the drum using wooden strips and self-tapping screws to increase the operating height.
  2. Wall and Roof Construction: Cut an entrance on the side of the water storage drum, embed sponge strips to form a door frame, and拼接 (assemble) plastic soft boards to create an elevated wall. Invert the upper half of the drum onto the top of the wooden strips to serve as the roof, and apply white waterproof paint to the surface of the wooden strips to enhance durability.
  3. Functional System Installation: Drill a hole at the bottom of the drum to install a drain pipe as a floor drain, and drill a hole on the side to connect a direct joint and insert a plastic bucket to form a water storage device. Use a water pipe to make a simple bathroom heater, install a three-way joint below the inlet pipe to connect a showerhead, place a toilet and secure the water tank, and connect the toilet drain pipe to the sewage bucket. Extend the outlet pipe three-way horizontally to the entrance as the inlet pipe for the sink, and install a hose and a door joint.
  4. Detail Refinement: Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a door body, ensuring airtightness.

II. Standardized Installation of Simple Portable Restrooms

  1. Preparation Stage: Select an installation location with a flat ground and sufficient load-bearing capacity, and confirm the sewage pipe connection method (such as gravity sewage or pump drainage). Spray water to moisten dry walls and prepare tools such as steel wire ropes, pulleys, and cranes.
  2. Positioning and Fixing: For pointed-roof restrooms, find a fulcrum near the top; for flat-roof ones, use the preset hooks provided by the manufacturer to connect lifting equipment with steel wire ropes for initial positioning. Small restrooms can be manually pushed by adding wheels at the bottom, while large equipment requires a crane to adjust the levelness.
  3. Commissioning and Operation: Check the airtightness of all connection parts, test the toilet flushing and sink drainage functions to ensure no leakage.

III. Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet

  1. Mobile Chassis Construction: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a pallet and place a recycled water storage tank as the main body.
  2. Tank Modification: Use an angle grinder to cut the top of the water storage tank along the marked line, invert and stack two open tanks, and secure the outer frame with self-tapping screws. Cut a rectangular opening as the entrance and drill a hole in the internal floor to install an elbow water pipe and seal it.
  3. Sanitary Equipment Installation: Align the toilet with the drain hole, place it, and secure it with glass glue. Use wall clips to fix the water pipe and install a faucet, connecting it to the drain outlet below. Use a stainless steel sink, secure it to the tank with screws, and connect the toilet tank inlet pipe, shower hose, and showerhead.
  4. Door Body Construction: Install hinges on the tank frame, connect them with a wooden board to form a door body, and add a door handle to ensure easy opening and closing.
