How Mobile Toilets Produce Sewage

Admin October 01, 2026

The way mobile toilets produce sewage is mainly related to their types, and different types produce sewage in different ways.

Flushing Mobile Toilets

The method of sewage production in flushing mobile toilets is relatively common. Among them, conventional flushing mobile toilets generally need to be connected to water supply and drainage pipes. They trigger the sewage discharge process through manual operation or automatic sensing devices. When flushing, the water flow will wash the waste away from the toilet bowl, and this water containing waste will eventually be discharged to a septic tank or municipal sewer network, inevitably producing sewage in the process.

On the other hand, circulating-flush mobile toilets adopt a relatively special treatment method. They are equipped with intermittent aerobic and anaerobic treatment systems, combined with biofilm technology. These toilets first perform preliminary treatment on the sewage, and the treated water is then recycled for flushing the toilets. However, throughout the entire recycling process, from the initial flushing of waste to subsequent treatment and reuse, sewage production is involved at every stage. Because the waste itself contains a large amount of impurities and harmful substances, during treatment and recycling, these substances will dissolve or suspend in the water, thus forming sewage.

Waterless Suction Mobile Toilets

The method of sewage production in waterless suction mobile toilets is relatively straightforward. They do not require water to flush waste but instead directly use a sewage tank at the bottom to receive excrement. During the process of receiving excrement, the moisture in the excrement as well as some liquid components such as urine will naturally flow into the sewage tank and mix with solid waste to form sewage. For this type of mobile toilet, since there is no flushing stage, the production of sewage mainly comes from the liquid contained in the excrement itself.

Water-Storage Sewage Discharge System Mobile Toilets

Water-storage sewage discharge system mobile toilets also handle waste through flushing. After a user finishes using the toilet and presses the flush button, water will flush the waste into a storage tank. As the number of uses increases, the sewage in the public toilet will continuously accumulate. When it reaches a preset water level, the flushing device will automatically start and further flush the waste in the storage tank away. In this process, whether it is the initial flushing of waste into the storage tank or subsequent flushing operations, sewage containing waste will be produced.
