How Many Floors Require Mobile Toilets

Admin October 09, 2026

The requirements for the number of floors in a building where mobile toilets should be installed vary depending on different regulations and scenarios, and need to be determined based on specific circumstances. Details are as follows:

I. Regulations Related to Construction Sites

According to the "Environmental and Sanitary Standards for Construction Sites" (JGJ146), mobile toilets and smoking areas should be installed every three floors in a building under construction. This regulation is primarily aimed at construction sites, aiming to safeguard the sanitary needs of construction workers, reduce uncivilized behaviors caused by inconvenient toilet access, and improve the overall environmental quality of the construction site. However, there is also a view that for high-rise building construction exceeding eight floors, temporary toilets should be installed every five floors. This difference may be related to the specific management requirements of different regions and projects, but the core purpose is to meet the actual needs of construction workers.

II. Regulations Related to Civil Building Design

According to Article 6.6.3 of the "Unified Standard for Civil Building Design" GB50352-2019, a mobile toilet should be installed every three floors in super high-rise buildings. Due to their great height, super high-rise buildings face greater difficulties in personnel evacuation and sanitary facility allocation, so the requirements for the installation of mobile toilets are stricter. Installing a mobile toilet every three floors ensures that personnel can quickly find sanitary facilities in emergencies and is also conducive to daily sanitary management.

III. Common Practices in Actual Construction Site Management

Some believe that mobile toilets on construction sites are generally installed every four floors, usually starting from the eighth floor. This practice may be based on a summary of actual construction site management experience, taking into account factors such as the distribution of construction workers, construction progress, and the maintenance costs of sanitary facilities. Installing a mobile toilet every four floors can meet the daily needs of construction workers without causing resource waste due to excessive installations. Starting from the eighth floor may be because workers on lower floors can solve their toilet needs through other means, such as using ground-fixed toilets.
