How Is Waterproofing Done on Container Houses?
How is waterproofing handled on container houses? Below is one of the common processes:
(1) Install a flexible waterproof layer—either coating or membrane is acceptable. Roof waterproofing requires the substrate moisture content to be no more than 9%, so it is best done in hot weather after several consecutive sunny days in summer. After completion, a water-ponding test should be carried out.
(2) For coating waterproofing, take “one fabric, two coats” as an example: after cleaning the substrate, brush a full coat of waterproof coating; once it has dried into a film, lay a layer of fiberglass cloth as reinforcement, then brush another full coat over the flattened surface to fix it; after drying, proceed with the next roof waterproofing pass.
(3) For waterproof membrane work: after cleaning the substrate, apply adhesive to the back of the membrane and to the substrate, then bond and roll from far to near along the snapped reference lines; finally check and finish the seams and edge details.
(4) Second roof waterproof layer: install a rigid waterproof layer about two days after the first flexible layer is finished. The main materials are higher-grade fatty-acid mortar waterproofing agent, cement, sand, fine stone aggregate, and fiber. The waterproof layer thickness should be 20–30 mm.
A. Install division wood strips as required by the specification, with fixed panel sizes;
B. Working from far to near and from high to low, place the prepared mortar or fine-stone concrete panel by panel for roof waterproofing; finish each panel in one go, then trowel and compact;
C. After initial set, remove the division strips, polish the surface, and trim the joints;
D. Fill the joints with flexible sealant and finish the surface edges. Standards and steps for waterproof concrete: cement for ordinary waterproof concrete must meet national standards and also satisfy the following:
Good water resistance, low bleeding, low heat of hydration, and a degree of corrosion resistance;
Proper selection of waterproof concrete mix.
