How Are Prefabricated Houses Made

Admin September 19, 2026

The production process of prefabricated houses mainly involves disassembling the building into independent modules, manufacturing them in a factory, and then transporting them to the construction site for assembly.

Factory Prefabrication Stage

  • Module Disassembly and Production: The production of prefabricated houses begins by disassembling the entire building into multiple independent modules, such as ceilings, floors, walls, and water and electrical pipelines. These individual components are manufactured separately on different floors or in different areas of the factory. For example, some structural components may first undergo preliminary shaping in specialized processing workshops, while water and electrical pipelines are prefabricated in corresponding pipeline processing areas.
  • Final Assembly and Precision Control: The separately produced components are sent to the final assembly station for assembly. During the final assembly process, highly automated equipment such as welding manipulators is used to complete the assembly work, ensuring that the connections between various components are firm and precise. At the same time, each "building block" (i.e., prefabricated module) has a detailed "ID card" containing information such as the project name, product model, and production date. Moreover, the position of each steel bar is precisely located, with error and precision controlled in millimeters to ensure the quality and stability of the modules.

On-site Assembly Stage

  • Transportation and Hoisting: The prefabricated modules are transported to the construction site. On-site, large hoisting equipment such as cranes is used to hoist each module according to the design requirements.
  • Module Assembly: Similar to building with building blocks, the hoisted modules are assembled. Construction personnel will accurately connect each module together according to a pre-designed plan to form a complete house structure. During the assembly process, it is essential to ensure that the connections between the modules are tight and comply with building codes and safety requirements.

Advantages of Prefabricated Houses

Compared to traditional construction methods, modular construction offers advantages such as shorter construction periods, controllable quality, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and ease of maintenance. Since most of the work is completed in the factory, the time and uncertainty of on-site construction are reduced, significantly shortening the construction period. The factory production environment allows for better control of product quality, ensuring that each module meets standards. Additionally, it reduces construction waste and noise pollution generated on-site, making it more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, the modular design also makes house maintenance more convenient, allowing for the repair or replacement of individual modules.
