How About the Thermal Insulation of Container Houses
Container houses have good thermal insulation performance and can achieve efficient thermal insulation through various methods. The specific measures are as follows:

1. Select Appropriate Thermal Insulation Materials The thermal insulation performance of container houses primarily depends on the choice of materials. Common thermal insulation materials include polystyrene boards, polyurethane foam boards, rock wool boards, expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards, and extruded polystyrene (XPS) boards. XPS boards achieve low thermal conductivity through a tightly closed-cell structure, offering both high strength and moisture resistance. On-site spraying of polyurethane foam can seamlessly adhere to the inner walls, forming a long-lasting and stable thermal insulation layer. Rock wool boards are renowned for their outstanding fire resistance, while also providing thermal insulation and sound absorption functions. These materials effectively maintain stable indoor temperatures by blocking heat transfer paths.
2. Increase the Thickness and Structure of Thermal Insulation Layers Adding thermal insulation layers to the exterior or interior walls of container houses is a core method for enhancing thermal insulation performance. For example, using external hanging thermal insulation layers or internal thermal insulation boards creates a thermal barrier, reducing heat transfer through the walls. In roof and wall designs, double-layer structures filled with thermal insulation materials (such as XPS boards or rock wool) can further block solar radiation and outdoor heat. Appropriately increasing the thickness of the thermal insulation layer (e.g., a roof thermal insulation layer thickness of ≥50mm) can significantly improve thermal insulation effects, especially under extreme climatic conditions.
3. Optimize Window and Door Designs and Sealing Windows and doors are key areas for heat loss. Priority should be given to selecting double- or triple-glazed windows and doors, which have low thermal conductivity and can significantly reduce heat transfer. Thermally broken aluminum windows and doors use thermal break technology to block heat transfer through metal profiles, offering both high strength and sealing properties. Additionally, installing sealing strips around the edges of windows and doors and sealing gaps and holes in container buildings can effectively reduce air leakage and prevent the "cold bridge" effect.
4. Pay Attention to Detail Handling and System Sealing The overall performance of the thermal insulation system depends on detail handling. For example, joints between thermal insulation materials should be filled with sealing materials (such as silicone sealant) to ensure no gaps. The connection between the thermal insulation layer and the container structure should use professional construction methods (such as mechanical fastening + bonding) to ensure stability. In cold regions (such as Harbin), combining with underfloor heating systems or increasing the thickness of wall thermal insulation layers can further enhance thermal insulation effects.
Through material selection, structural optimization, window and door improvements, and detail handling, container houses can achieve thermal insulation performance comparable to that of traditional buildings, meeting residential needs under various climatic conditions.
