Price Quotes for Residential Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

The price quotes for residential container houses vary significantly depending on configuration, materials, source, and purchasing method. They can be broadly categorized into the following three scenarios:

I. Price Range for Purchasing Entire Containers
The price range for standard 3-meter-wide residential containers is quite wide. The simplest models without a toilet can be purchased for as low as 5,000 yuan. These products typically only meet basic living needs, with thinner materials and no additional features. If you opt for models with independent bathrooms and kitchens, the price may rise to 25,000 yuan. These products are often used for long-term living or office spaces, with more complete interior decoration and facilities. Material has a significant impact on price: for every 0.1 mm increase in steel plate thickness or 10 kg/m³ increase in insulation cotton density, costs rise by 2,000-3,000 yuan. Additionally, refurbished shipping containers are cheaper but may have issues like rust and odors, requiring careful evaluation of the usage scenario.

II. Price Differences per Square Meter
The price per square meter of container houses is closely related to their purpose and materials. The cheapest temporary housing for construction sites costs less than 300 yuan per square meter. For example, an 18-square-meter model costing just over 5,000 yuan is suitable for short-term construction projects but has poor heat and sound insulation. Mid-range rock wool packing-box units cost about 472 yuan per square meter (e.g., an 18-square-meter model costing 8,500 yuan). Rock wool has good fire resistance and is commonly used for commercial temporary housing. High-end custom models can cost 1,500-3,000 yuan per square meter. These products feature designs like floor-to-ceiling windows and smart home systems, with materials such as high-strength steel or eco-friendly panels, suitable for vacation villas and high-end exhibition halls.

III. Rental Costs and Additional Fees
If you choose to rent a residential container, the daily rental rate is about 6 yuan/day, with a monthly rate of 180 yuan and an annual rate of about 2,160 yuan. However, transportation and installation fees may exceed the rental cost itself, especially in remote areas or when hoisting operations are required, with single transportation costs potentially reaching several thousand yuan. Additionally, rental contracts usually require a deposit, and long-term use may incur maintenance fees, so it's important to clarify responsibility divisions with the supplier in advance.

Summary: When purchasing a residential container, decisions should be based on budget, usage duration, and functional requirements. For short-term temporary use, it's advisable to choose low-cost simple models or rent; for long-term living or commercial use, mid-to-high-end products are recommended, with a focus on material fire resistance and insulation; for custom needs, sufficient budget should be reserved, and the supplier's design capabilities should be confirmed.
