Housing Container Material and Process

Admin September 15, 2026

Housing containers primarily use steel as the main structural material, complemented by aluminum alloy, glass, plastic, and other materials, undergoing multiple processes such as rust prevention, sound insulation, thermal insulation, and waterproofing.

Main Structural Materials

  • Steel: It is the core material of housing containers, including channel steel, angle steel, and steel plates. These steels have high strength and corrosion resistance, ensuring the structural safety of the house. For example, the frame of a standard container is welded from profiled steel. The thickness of the steel used for the main beams and columns, the welding process, and the anti-corrosion treatment of the container body determine the safety and service life of the container house during lifting, stacking, and transportation. High-quality container buildings use Q355B low-alloy high-strength steel that has undergone hot-dip galvanizing treatment, with a corrosion resistance life of over 20 years.

Other Auxiliary Materials

  • Aluminum Alloy: Commonly used in the production of doors and windows, it has the advantages of being lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, and corrosion-resistant, while also providing good thermal insulation and sound insulation properties, enhancing the comfort of the house.
  • Glass: Mainly used for doors, windows, and observation windows, it has the advantages of high transparency, good reflectivity, and corrosion resistance, increasing the lighting and view of the house.
  • Plastic: Such as plastic pipes and plastic sheets, are widely used in container houses. They have the advantages of being lightweight, easy to process, and cost-effective, meeting the needs of different houses.

Process Treatments

  • Rust Prevention Treatment: Galvanizing or spraying anti-corrosion coatings on steel to prevent rusting and extend the service life of the house.
  • Sound Insulation and Thermal Insulation Treatment: Using air-gap thermal insulation design, rock wool thermal insulation and sound insulation materials, and PU foam, etc., to ensure the sound insulation and thermal insulation performance of the house, improving living comfort.
  • Waterproof Treatment: Ensuring that the house maintains good usability under adverse weather conditions and preventing rainwater infiltration.
  • Structural Reinforcement: Reinforcing the overall structure of the container to improve its wind and earthquake resistance, ensuring the safety and stability of the house.
