Prefabricated Panels and Wood for House Slopes

Admin September 18, 2026

The use of prefabricated panels and wood for house slope roofs each has its own characteristics, and the choice should be made based on specific needs and conditions.

Characteristics of Prefabricated Panels

  • Features and Advantages: Prefabricated panels are pre-made concrete slabs produced in factories, specifically designed for the slopes of rural building roofs. Made of reinforced concrete structures and molded through casting, they are strong and durable, capable of adapting to various climatic conditions in rural areas. Their advantages include:
    • Rapid Construction: Manufactured in factories, they only require lifting and fixing on-site, significantly shortening the construction period.
    • Cost-Effectiveness: Compared to cast-in-place concrete, they reduce on-site labor and material waste, resulting in lower overall costs.
    • Stable Quality: Factory production ensures uniformity and strength of the panels, avoiding fluctuations in on-site construction quality.
    • Wide Adaptability: They can be customized in size and slope according to needs, suitable for different roof designs.
  • Application Scenarios: Suitable for roofing of rural self-built houses, warehouses, livestock farms, and other buildings, as well as areas requiring rapid completion or limited construction environments.
  • Precautions: The roof structure must be flat and sturdy during installation to ensure stability; waterproofing at joints is necessary to prevent leakage; the thickness and reinforcement of the panels should be designed according to local snow and wind loads.
  • Market Prices: Prices typically range from 80 to 150 yuan per square meter, depending on factors such as panel thickness, reinforcement amount, and transportation distance.

Characteristics of Wood

  • Advantages: Wood has good plasticity and can be flexibly processed according to design requirements to form various complex curved surfaces; it has good thermal insulation properties, helping to maintain indoor temperature stability; it is a renewable resource and relatively environmentally friendly. Wooden-structured slope roofs are suitable for mountainous areas, where wood is readily available and construction is relatively simple. In summer, wooden slope roofs are cooler than concrete roofs.
  • Disadvantages: If construction is not meticulous, it is prone to water leakage, and attention must be paid to details when hanging tiles; wood requires regular maintenance and insect prevention treatment to ensure long-term use.
