Binding of Prefabricated Beams in Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The core steps for binding the steel reinforcement framework of prefabricated beams in houses are: marking and spacing → fitting and binding stirrups on one side → binding support bars. Here is a detailed explanation:

1. Marking and Spacing: Accurately Positioning the Steel Bars

Marking and spacing is the foundational step in the binding process. It involves determining the placement of the main load-bearing steel bars (including tension bars and bent-up bars) according to the design drawings and marking the spacing of the stirrups. During operation, use chalk lines or chalk to clearly mark the steel bars, ensuring that the stirrups are evenly distributed and meet regulatory requirements. For example, if the design specifies a stirrup spacing of 200mm, mark a point every 200mm on the main bars as a reference for subsequent stirrup installation. The accuracy of this step directly affects the load-bearing performance of the framework; excessive spacing deviations may lead to insufficient structural load-bearing capacity or an increased risk of cracks.

2. Fitting and Binding Stirrups on One Side: Forming the Initial Framework Structure

After marking, fit the stirrups onto the main bars one by one according to the marked positions and adjust them to a vertical state. Then, use binding wire to bind the intersections of the stirrups and main bars, prioritizing the fixation of one side of the steel reinforcement framework. When binding, pay attention to the tightening force of the binding wire to ensure a secure connection while avoiding damage to the surface of the steel bars. The purpose of this step is to construct the initial shape of the framework, providing stable support for the subsequent installation of support bars. If the binding is not firm, it may cause the stirrups to shift or the framework to deform, affecting the structural quality after concrete pouring.

3. Binding Support Bars: Completing the Framework Construction Function

Support bars are primarily used to fix the position of the stirrups and enhance the overall integrity of the framework, typically arranged at the top or middle of the beam. After completing the binding of stirrups on one side, insert the support bars into the stirrups according to the design requirements and bind them at the intersections with the main bars and stirrups. When binding, ensure that all connection points between the support bars and stirrups are fixed, forming a complete steel reinforcement network. After completing this step, check the verticality, flatness, and steel bar spacing of the framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as the "Construction Engineering Construction Process Regulations". For example, if the binding of the support bars is loose, it may lead to uneven thickness of the concrete cover, increasing the risk of steel bar corrosion.

Construction Precautions:

  • All operations should be carried out on a dedicated binding platform or within formwork to prevent framework deformation;
  • The ends of the binding wire should be bent towards the inside of the framework to prevent scratching the formwork or affecting the appearance of the concrete;
  • After binding, cover with a waterproof cloth to prevent steel bar corrosion or contamination with oil stains.
