Hotel House Container Residence

Admin September 14, 2026

Hotel house container residence is a building form that uses containers as basic modules and is transformed through industrial means to have residential functions. It has characteristics such as prefabrication, mobility, and environmental protection, but attention needs to be paid to fire safety and structural stability.

I. Core Structure and Performance Characteristics

Container residences are based on standard freight containers and achieve residential functions through structural reinforcement, thermal compensation, and functional zoning.

  1. High degree of prefabrication: The main structure, interior and exterior wall decorations, and pipelines are prefabricated in the factory. On-site work only requires lifting and joint treatment, with errors controlled at the millimeter level. The space has a high degree of squareness, reducing the need for later modifications.
  2. Optimized thermal performance: A three-layer structure is adopted (the outer layer is galvanized sheet for wind and sand protection, the middle layer is rock wool for insulation, and the inner layer is PVC-coated steel sheet for radiation reduction). Some are equipped with an elevated layer to block cold bridges, reducing indoor temperature fluctuations by 40% compared to traditional color steel plate houses.
  3. Compact functional zoning: Fixed-size containers (such as 3 meters × 6 meters) necessitate the use of functional overlapping strategies, such as integrated wet areas (kitchen and bathroom), and variable furniture in living and sleeping areas (such as folding tables and drop-down beds). However, systematic storage planning is required; otherwise, the actual usable area may shrink by more than 20%.

II. Application Scenarios and Advantages

  1. Temporary and mobile scenarios: Widely used in construction site dormitories, field operation housing, temporary housing at tourist attractions, etc. The single lifting and transportation cost is approximately 15-25 yuan per kilometer. After arriving at a new site, it can be used by simply connecting to water and electricity, supporting the "mobile living" model.
  2. Environmental protection and recycling: The steel consumption is lower than that of concrete temporary houses, and the carbon emissions are only 2.3 times those of the latter. The disassembly and assembly loss rate is controlled within 5%, significantly reducing construction waste.
  3. Customized expansion: Supports multi-story stacking, customization of irregular sizes, and integration of special functions (such as self-circulating sewage systems), making it suitable for homestays, cultural and tourism supporting facilities, and other scenarios.

III. Safety Risks and Improvement Measures

  1. Fire hazards: Some products use flammable sandwich materials such as polystyrene and polyurethane foam, which burn rapidly and are highly toxic. It is necessary to use Class A fire-resistant materials such as rock wool boards and fire-resistant cotton, maintain a container spacing of ≥6 meters, and equip with fire extinguishing equipment.
  2. Structural fatigue: Multiple disassemblies and assemblies (more than 5 times) may lead to fatigue of connecting bolts, increasing the risk of structural deformation by about 15%. Regular inspection and maintenance are required.
  3. Electrical safety: Wires need to be protected with sleeves. Socket and switch boxes should be made of metal galvanized boxes and installed openly to avoid heat sources and fire sources being close to the containers.
