Hongkou Convenient Mobile Toilets
Hongkou District has renovated public sanitation toilets, newly added mobile toilets, and a thriving rental service market in the area of mobile toilets, which can better meet the toilet needs of citizens and various activities.

Renovated Public Sanitation Toilets
Hongkou District has completed the upgrading and renovation of eight public sanitation toilets, each with unique features. The Diyishui Public Toilet at 588 Dongdaming Road incorporates water droplet elements into its exterior design, with a blue-and-white color scheme paired with metal toilet doors, and an ocean-themed interior. It is equipped with “high-tech” features such as a third toilet, touch-controlled automatic door system, and integrated wash-and-dry handwashing facilities. Additionally, it has added barrier-free ramps, handrails, and alarm devices. An outdoor smart screen can monitor toilet usage time in real-time, earning it the title of “Most Beautiful Toilet” in 2025. The public toilet at 258 Zhapu Road features a red-brick exterior that complements the surrounding historical architecture. It is open 24 hours a day, has a barrier-free toilet, and is equipped with age-friendly and child-friendly facilities. Barrier-free ramps and handrails cover the entire route, and emergency alarm devices are installed in the toilet stalls, making it a “Featured Toilet” in 2025. The public toilet at 50 Kunming Road blends seamlessly into the street greenery with a simple and modern style, without being obtrusive. Public toilets at 270 Kunming Road, 650 Wenshui East Road, 303 Lane Shanyin Road, 332 Dantu Road, and 5 Lane Taipingqiao Branch Road have also been renovated, adhering to the design concept of “one toilet, one scenic view” and becoming visual landmarks by integrating with the characteristics of their surrounding environments.
Newly Added Mobile Toilets
To improve the sanitation of the passageway at 345 Lane Guangyue Road, the district's environmental sanitation center and the local sub-district have added a mobile toilet. This toilet has separate men's and women's sections, is equipped with age-friendly facilities, and has installed an “occupied/unoccupied” display system and deodorization and ventilation equipment. Professional cleaning staff are arranged for daily maintenance, effectively enhancing the sanitation level of the area.
