Homestay Mobile Toilet Configuration
Admin October 08, 2026
The configuration of mobile toilets for homestays should be comprehensively designed based on the scenario, functional requirements, and special needs. The specific configuration points are as follows:

I. Basic Scenario Adaptation
For rural homestays or agritourism settings, it is recommended to rent small mobile restrooms. The installation location should balance concealment and accessibility, avoiding disruption to the overall landscape while ensuring that tourists can quickly locate them. For example, they can be placed in greenbelts around the homestay building or in separate areas, away from main activity spaces but with clear path markings.
II. Core Facility Configuration
Sanitary Fixtures:
- Toilets: Ceramic squat toilets or sit-down toilets are the main options, with high-end products using stainless steel for durability and ease of cleaning.
- Handwashing Systems: Equipped with sinks, push-type or sensor-activated faucets (to reduce contact contamination), water storage tanks (to ensure stable water supply), and some include mirrors, coat hooks, storage shelves, toilet paper holders, and trash bins to enhance the user experience.
Environmental Control:
- Ventilation: Install powerful exhaust fans to quickly remove odors and maintain fresh air.
- Lighting: Use LED energy-saving lights for soft illumination and low energy consumption; in cold regions, add insulation materials or electric heaters to prevent pipe freezing; in hot regions, install ventilation skylights or small air conditioners to regulate internal temperature.
Water Supply, Drainage, and Power:
- Water Supply: Divided into self-contained tank types (suitable for scenarios without external water sources) and externally connected water source types (requiring connection to municipal water supply or the homestay's own water source).
- Sewage Disposal: Equipped with a sewage tank at the bottom (for regular cleaning) or using environmentally friendly sewage disposal technologies (such as biodegradation or chemical treatment).
- Power Supply: Prioritize connection to 220V mains electricity; in remote areas, built-in batteries or solar panels can be configured to ensure continuous operation of the equipment.
III. Structural and Safety Design
- Materials: Wall panels are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), fiberglass, or color-coated steel sheets for moisture and corrosion resistance; the floor uses anti-slip flooring or fiberglass grating to reduce the risk of slipping.
- Safety Facilities: Internal safety door locks are installed, and external "Occupied/Vacant" indicator locks or LED displays are provided to prevent accidental entry; barrier-free restrooms require expanded internal space, with the addition of handrails, wheelchair turning space, and low-level sinks to meet the needs of special populations.
IV. Special Needs Optimization
- Environmental Requirements: In water-sensitive regions like Jiangxi, prioritize water-saving equipment such as low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets to reduce water waste.
- Barrier-Free Design: For groups such as the elderly and disabled, configure barrier-free restrooms, ensuring aisles are at least 90cm wide, handrails are at an appropriate height, and the floor is level without steps to improve accessibility.
