Homemade Portable Mobile Toilet
Admin October 02, 2026
A homemade portable mobile toilet can be made using the following three methods, and the appropriate plan should be selected based on the available materials and tools:

Method 1: Using a Water Storage Bucket
- Main Structure: Split the water storage bucket in half lengthwise and construct a movable base using wooden planks and universal wheels. Attach wooden strips to the upper side of the bucket with self-tapping screws to increase height and create an operating space.
- Door and Walls: Cut an opening on the side of the bucket, insert sponge strips to form a door frame, and拼接 (assemble) plastic soft panels to create raised walls. Use the upper half of the bucket as the roof and apply waterproof paint to enhance aesthetics.
- Functional Modules:
- Drainage System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the bucket to install a drain pipe, and drill another hole on the side to connect a three-way fitting, extending it to the doorway as the inlet pipe for a sink.
- Shower Unit: Drill a hole on the side of the plastic bucket to connect a small water storage device, use a water pipe to make a simple shower head, and install a three-way fitting below the inlet pipe to connect a showerhead.
- Toilet Installation: Place the toilet and secure the water tank, connecting the drain pipe to the sewage bucket to ensure a tight seal.
- Detail Optimization: Use foam strips and discarded honeycomb wooden panels to make the door, and secure all connections with glass glue to prevent water leakage.
Method 2: Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet (Basic Version)
- Movable Base: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a plastic pallet and place a recycled water storage tank on it.
- Tank Modification: Use an angle grinder to cut an opening at the top of the water storage tank, stack two open tanks, and secure them with self-tapping screws.
- Functional Integration:
- Drainage System: Drill a hole in the floor inside the tank, install an elbow and a water pipe as the drain outlet, align the toilet, and seal it with glue.
- Handwashing Unit: Secure a water pipe and a faucet to the wall with clips, fix a pipe cap with screws at the bottom, and connect it to the drain outlet. Drill a hole in the pipe cap to install a stainless steel basin as a sink.
- Shower Unit: Connect the inlet pipe of the toilet water tank, install a shower hose, a bracket, and a spray-type showerhead.
- Door Design: Connect wooden planks to the frame of the water storage tank with hinges and install a door handle to form a switchable door.
Method 3: Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet (Simple Version)
- Basic Structure: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a plastic pallet directly and place a water storage tank as the main body.
- Functional Expansion: This plan does not provide detailed instructions on the installation of internal modules (such as the toilet and drainage system). It is necessary to supplement the design by referring to the first two methods, such as placing a portable toilet at the opening of the tank or connecting an external drainage bag for simple sewage disposal.
Precautions:
- Before making, prepare tools such as an angle grinder, self-tapping screws, and glass glue to ensure cutting and sealing accuracy.
- The water storage tank or bucket should be made of corrosion-resistant materials to avoid damage from long-term contact with excrement.
- The stability of the mobile toilet depends on the base structure. It is recommended to add counterweights or expand the contact area to prevent tipping over.
