Constructing a Mobile Toilet at Home

Admin October 05, 2026

If you want to build a mobile toilet at home, you can use a water storage tank combined with related components, while adhering to design principles such as mobility, environmental friendliness, and durability.

I. Construction Method

  1. Basic Structure Construction: Take out a water storage tank from home and split it in half with an angle grinder. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board for easy mobility; take wooden strips and fix them to the upper side of the tank with self-tapping screws to increase height. Then, use an angle grinder to cut an opening on the side of the water storage tank and install sponge strips on both sides of the opening to form a door frame.
  2. Wall and Roof Construction: Insert plastic soft boards between the wooden strips to form elevated walls. Place the upper half of the water storage tank on top of the wooden strips as the roof. Apply white waterproof paint to the wooden strips to enhance aesthetics.
  3. Simple Door Construction: Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door.
  4. Drainage System Installation: Use a hole-opening tool to drill a hole at the bottom of the tank and install a drain pipe to form a floor drain. Drill holes on the side and bottom of a plastic bucket, connect them with direct fittings, and place the plastic bucket on the roof to form a small water storage device.
  5. Bathroom Equipment Connection: Connect the bath heater made of water pipes, install a tee fitting below the water inlet pipe, and connect it to a showerhead.
  6. Sanitary Ware Installation: Place a toilet on the opening of the drain pipe, install the water tank properly, and secure it with glass glue. Connect the drain pipe to the sewage tank. Horizontally connect a water pipe to the tee fitting on the outlet pipe and extend it to the doorway as the water inlet pipe for the sink. Drill a hole in the door and install a fitting.

II. Design Principles

  1. Mobility, Economy, and Durability: The overall structure should be lightweight, using lightweight and durable materials such as plastic and wood as much as possible. At the same time, the structure should be sturdy, with controlled height and width of the toilet. The mobility devices should be complete and reasonable, such as installing universal wheels.
  2. Environmental Protection and Ecology: During the construction process, choose environmentally friendly materials to reduce pollution to the environment. At the same time, design the drainage system reasonably to ensure that fecal sewage and other waste can be properly treated to avoid adverse effects on the surrounding environment.
  3. Improving Efficiency and Promoting Humanity: The design of the mobile toilet should focus on usability, meeting daily usage needs, such as reasonably arranging sanitary ware and washing equipment to improve convenience and comfort of use.
