High-End Container House Sizes

Admin September 16, 2026

The sizes of high-end container houses vary depending on the type and customization requirements. Common standard sizes are 20 feet and 40 feet, with internal usable areas that can be expanded through extension designs or customized according to specific needs.

I. Standard Container Sizes

  • 20-foot Standard Container: The external dimensions are approximately 6058×2438×2591mm, and the internal dimensions are approximately 5867×2330×2350mm. Common uses include single-person offices, dormitories, and shops. For example, Yashun Light Steel produced a 20-foot double-wing extension container for a project in Chile. During transportation, the space on both sides is folded in, and after expansion, the indoor usable area is about 36 square meters, balancing transportation efficiency and usable area through spatial conversion.
  • 40-foot Standard Container: The external dimensions are approximately 12192×2438×2591mm, and the internal dimensions are approximately 11998×2330×2350mm. It is suitable for dividing into multi-functional spaces or multi-person dormitories. The 40-foot high cube container (40HQ) has an increased external height of 2896mm and an internal height of 2655mm, meeting the requirements for exhibition halls or housing with high ceiling needs.

II. Extended Container Sizes

  • Double-Wing Extension Container: Based on the 20-foot specification, it expands the usable area by unfolding the wing bodies on both sides. For example, the 20-foot double-wing extension container in the Chile project has an indoor area of about 36 square meters after expansion. During transportation, only two 40-foot sea containers are needed to load four sets of products, demonstrating the flexibility of modular construction in overseas projects.

III. Custom Non-Standard Sizes

  • Length: Can be customized according to needs, such as 3m, 6m, 8m, 12m, etc. For example, the 3m×6m specification is commonly used for on-site housing or office space.
  • Width: Options include 2.5m, 2.55m, 3m, 4m, etc., to adapt to spatial requirements in different scenarios.
  • Height: Options include 2.6m, 2.7m, 2.8m, 2.9m, etc., to meet special requirements for ceiling height.
  • Special Design: Window and door positions, partitions, exteriors, and interior decorations can all be customized as needed. For example, container homestays can form larger spaces by combining multiple container bodies, with each room having an area of no less than 10 square meters.
