Hefei Marathon Portable Toilets

Admin October 10, 2026

The setup and arrangement of portable toilets for the Hefei Marathon have been scientifically planned to meet the practical needs of participants during the event and ensure its smooth operation.

1. Layout Planning and Location Distribution The placement of portable toilets follows the flow of participants, divided into three core areas: the starting point, along the racecourse, and the finish line.

  • Starting Point Area: A sufficient number of temporary restrooms are set up to accommodate the concentrated restroom needs of participants before the race. However, some participants have reported long waiting times, suggesting that the number of portable toilets is insufficient and recommending the addition of urinals to alleviate pressure.
  • Along the Racecourse: Temporary restroom stations are placed every 2-3 kilometers, mostly in open areas beside the racecourse, making them convenient for participants to use without affecting the race progress.
  • Finish Line Area: The highest concentration of restrooms is located here to meet the needs of a large number of participants arriving simultaneously after the race.

2. Facility Features and Maintenance Management Temporary sanitation facilities are made of lightweight materials for easy transportation and quick installation, equipped with simple flushing systems, handwashing stations, and ventilation to ensure basic functionality.

  • Cleaning and Supplies: Maintenance personnel regularly clean and replenish sanitary supplies to ensure facilities are always available. During peak usage times, cleaning frequency is increased, and garbage is promptly disposed of to maintain a clean environment.
  • Guidance Signs: Clear signs are placed at each location to help participants quickly locate facilities and reduce searching time.

3. Quantity Configuration and Scientific Calculation The number of portable toilets is configured proportionally based on the number of participants and considers usage patterns at different times during the event:

  • Starting and Finish Points: The number of facilities is significantly higher than along the racecourse to accommodate concentrated restroom needs before the race and after a large number of participants arrive simultaneously.
  • Along the Racecourse: Facilities are evenly distributed at intervals to ensure participants can find restrooms promptly while running.

4. Improvement Suggestions and Future Optimization To address the issue of long waiting times for restrooms at the starting point, organizers could consider increasing the number of urinals or optimizing the queuing process, such as setting up分流通道 (diversion channels) or temporary signs for guidance. Additionally, cleaning plans could be further refined, with cleaning frequency dynamically adjusted based on real-time usage data to enhance participant experience.

The Hefei Marathon ensures that portable toilet facilities are adequately available during the event through scientific planning, reasonable configuration, and efficient maintenance, providing convenient sanitation conditions for participants.
