Residential Container Houses in Heavy Snow

Admin September 17, 2026

The living experience and feasibility of residential container houses in heavy snow are influenced by factors such as wall panel thickness, airtightness, and heating facilities. With reasonable design and configuration, they can meet living requirements.

Wall panel thickness is a key factor affecting the living experience. In the mild cold range of 0℃ to 5℃, container houses with wall panels of 50mm, 75mm, and 150mm thicknesses can all support basic living. Among them, the 150mm wall panel container can achieve comfortable daily activities solely through sunlight exposure and body heat. When the temperature drops to the severe cold range of -5℃ to -10℃, the 50mm wall panel container is only suitable for short-term storage of materials and not recommended for human habitation; the 75mm wall panel container, when equipped with thermal-break aluminum hollow windows and sealing strips, and supplemented with a small air conditioner or floor heating, can reach a comfortable living standard of 18℃; the 150mm wall panel container can maintain an indoor temperature of over 12℃ without additional heating, and the room temperature can easily rise to 20℃ to 22℃ when heating equipment is turned on. In the extreme cold range of -20℃ to -30℃, the 50mm wall panel container is completely unsuitable for living; the 75mm wall panel container relies on high-power floor heating (with a power of no less than 80W/㎡) and full-house sealing renovations to maintain an indoor temperature above 10℃; the 150mm wall panel container, when combined with a floor heating system and a fresh air dehumidification device, can keep the indoor temperature stable at 18℃ to 20℃.

Airtightness also has a significant impact on the living experience. Well-sealed container houses can effectively prevent cold air and snowflakes from entering the interior, keeping the interior dry and warm. For example, the Hunan Yaheng Tengfei folding container house uses window sealing strips and container body sealing strips for sealing treatment, and precisely processes the joints, such as wrapping the internal corner pieces for sealing, ensuring the flatness and alignment of the joints, and achieving excellent sealing performance.

Heating facilities are essential for ensuring living comfort. Modern container houses are usually equipped with various heating facilities, such as electric heaters and air conditioners, which can effectively raise the indoor temperature, allowing people to enjoy warmth even in cold winters. At the same time, when using heating facilities, attention should be paid to energy conservation to avoid waste, and regular inspection and maintenance of the container house should be carried out to ensure it is in good working condition.
