Hangzhou Outdoor Mobile Toilet

Admin September 23, 2026

A typical example of an outdoor mobile toilet in Hangzhou is the mobile landscape public toilet located at the intersection of Qianchao Road and Sanxin Road on the Qiantang River embankment in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. This public toilet is the first movable landscape public toilet in Hangzhou. It was built through cooperation between the Jianggan District Urban Management Bureau, which introduced the technology from Xiamen, and the Sijiqing Subdistrict. It officially opened for use on June 29, 2019. Its design concept and functional features reflect Hangzhou's innovation and practicality in public facility construction.

1. Construction and Installation Method
This public toilet adopts a factory-based integrated production model. All components are prefabricated in the factory and then transported to the site for hoisting and installation by vehicles. This "prefabricated" construction method significantly shortens the construction period and reduces the impact of on-site operations on the surrounding environment. During installation, it only needs to be connected to water and electricity pipelines to be put into use. If relocation is required due to urban planning adjustments in the later stage, it can be directly hoisted as a whole to a new location for reinstallation, avoiding the high cost of demolishing and rebuilding traditional public toilets and demonstrating the advantages of resource conservation and flexibility.

2. Functional Configuration and Intelligent Design
The interior facilities are complete, equipped with basic sanitary equipment such as urinals, squat toilets, and hand-washing basins to meet basic usage needs. At the same time, an intelligent management system is introduced: Light music is automatically played when the door is closed to enhance the user experience; An automatic flushing device is triggered when the door is opened to ensure hygiene and cleanliness; Built-in deodorization and sterilization functions reduce odors and bacterial growth through air purification technology, improving the public toilet environment. These designs take into account both practicality and humanized needs.

3. Surrounding Services and Operating Hours
Clear signage is set up around the public toilet to facilitate quick location by citizens and tourists. During the pilot operation period, the operating hours are set from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, covering most peak periods of outdoor activities and ensuring the accessibility of public services.

4. Demonstration Significance and Promotion Value
As a benchmark case of mobile public toilet construction in Hangzhou, this public toilet provides new ideas for urban public facility construction through its modular design, intelligent management, and relocatability. Its successful practice shows that mobile public toilets can not only quickly respond to temporary or emergency needs but also optimize the layout of public services by flexibly adjusting their locations, making them especially suitable for scenarios such as scenic spots, transportation hubs, and temporary event venues.
