Hangzhou Mobile Toilet for the Disabled

Admin October 09, 2026

Hangzhou has mobile toilets specifically designed for the disabled, primarily in the form of barrier-free mobile bus public toilets. Here is a detailed introduction:

I. Basic Information Purchased by the West Lake Environmental Group, these toilets appear as ordinary buses on the road. However, upon opening the door, the interior reveals a unique space equipped with five independent toilets and one independent toilet for special groups, providing a convenient toilet environment for disabled individuals and other special groups.

II. Special Design for the Disabled

  1. Electric Wheelchair Lift Platform: A special door is installed in the middle of the bus, with an electric wheelchair lift platform beneath it. Disabled individuals can push their wheelchairs onto the platform by themselves, sit securely, and then the platform rises to be level with the bus floor, allowing them to smoothly enter the independent toilet for special groups. This design fully considers the mobility challenges of disabled individuals, using mechanical devices to help them overcome height differences, enabling autonomous access to the toilet, and greatly enhancing convenience and safety.
  2. Toilet Interior Facilities: In the independent toilet for special groups, handrails are installed on both sides of the toilet. These handrails provide stable support for disabled individuals when standing up or sitting down, helping them maintain balance and preventing accidental falls due to instability. The design is very reasonable, reflecting meticulous consideration for the usage needs of disabled individuals.

III. Other Related Facilities The first vehicle-mounted barrier-free mobile toilet in Hangzhou also made its debut in the Xihu District, also in the form of a bus. In addition to five independent toilets inside the vehicle, an electric wheelchair lift platform is installed on the right side of the vehicle for the convenience of disabled individuals. At the rear of the vehicle, there is a spacious and well-equipped third toilet. In addition to meeting the needs of disabled individuals, it is also equipped with a foldable baby changing table and other facilities, considering not only disabled individuals but also providing convenience for people traveling with infants, further reflecting the humanized and diversified design concept of public facilities.
