Gujiao Villa Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The Gujiao villa container house is a villa-type living space constructed using a container structure, featuring a sturdy structure, simple and elegant design, and customizability. The following provides a detailed introduction from the aspects of design, construction, and maintenance:

Design Features
- Spatial Layout: Functional areas can be expanded through methods such as splicing and combining containers, as well as staggered stacking. For example, connecting two containers can create a flat layout with an integrated living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub (approximately 100 square meters). Staggered design can create rich spatial levels, with the ground floor reserved for a leisure courtyard or passageway area to improve ventilation and lighting. For small units, multi-functional furniture such as folding beds, folding tables, and integrated cabinets can be used to enhance space flexibility.
- Lighting and Insulation: Installing large floor-to-ceiling windows, roof skylights, and glass partitions can make the interior bright and transparent, blending with nature. Insulation layers are applied to the walls and roof, and triple-glazed windows are selected to achieve a warm winter and cool summer effect, with better heat insulation than red brick walls. Roof eaves or terrace sunshades can prevent intense sun exposure in summer and enrich the facade.
- Facade Beautification: The exterior facade can be treated with paint spraying, themed spray painting, cladding, or glass curtain walls to break away from the industrial feel and shape a villa-like atmosphere.
Construction Points
- Procedure Handling: If building on rural homestead land for long-term residence, it is necessary to follow local requirements to handle construction approval procedures and provide structural drawings stamped by an engineer. One cannot directly build containers as permanent residences without permission, as there is a risk of being identified as illegal construction. Cultivated land and basic farmland are strictly prohibited from construction. Forestry approval is required for forest land. Leased land is mostly for temporary structures and cannot be used as permanent residences, and the nature of use should be clearly stated in the contract.
- Foundation Treatment: Raising the container on pile foundations can prevent moisture and insects and facilitate site leveling. The container body should not be directly placed on the ground; the foundation should be raised to avoid the bottom being soaked in moisture.
Maintenance Points
- Rust Prevention and Corrosion Resistance: During the construction phase, all cutting and welding incisions must be polished and treated with epoxy primer and topcoat. Check the welds, corners, bottom, and eaves annually, and immediately polish and repaint any small rust spots found. Re-corrosion protection and repainting are required every 8 - 12 years in inland dry areas, every 7 - 10 years in southern humid areas, and every 3 - 5 years in coastal areas.
- Waterproof Sealing: The sealant around doors and windows, container body joints, and roof gutters needs to be replaced every 5 - 7 years. Clean the roof leaves annually.
