Renovation of Mobile Toilets in Rural Areas of Guizhou
The renovation of mobile toilets in rural areas of Guizhou is an important part of the rural 'toilet revolution', effectively improving the rural living environment through the introduction and innovation of technological models.

Toilet Renovation Technology Models Adapted to Special Landforms
The karst landform in Guizhou's mountainous areas is prominent, with high mountains, steep slopes, scattered villager residences, and seasonal water shortages. The technical team from the Environmental Protection Research and Monitoring Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has introduced mature technologies and made localized improvements, developing the 'toilet fecal matter courtyard digestion model', the 'toilet fecal matter farmland utilization model', and the 'agritainment model' tailored to the needs of rural tourism. These models are characterized by 'easy operation, no need for manual cleaning, low maintenance, and resource utilization'. The treated sewage can meet the Class 1B water quality standard and can be directly used for agricultural irrigation, achieving a win-win situation of pollution control and resource reuse.
Flexible Application of Mobile Toilets
Guizhou's terrain is mainly composed of plateaus and mountains, with widespread karst landforms. Building fixed public toilets is costly and difficult to construct. Mobile toilets do not require large-scale civil engineering and have low site requirements. They can be quickly installed as long as there is a relatively flat ground, adapting to the characteristics of Guizhou's mountainous areas. They can also be easily hoisted and transported, improving the flexibility of resource utilization. They can meet the emergency needs of large-scale events and temporary gatherings, serve remote areas and construction sites, improve local basic sanitation conditions, and provide necessary living and sanitation guarantees for outdoor workers. At the same time, many mobile toilets adopt advanced treatment technologies, such as biodegradation technology, chemical decomposition technology, vacuum adsorption technology, and solar power supply, to meet environmental protection requirements.
Capital Investment and Renovation Achievements
By the end of 2023, a total of 620,000 rural household sanitary toilets had been newly built or renovated across the province, with a cumulative investment of 1.36 billion yuan, gradually improving the rural living environment. Taking Zhijin County as an example, from 2021 to 2023, a total of 32.01 million yuan in rural toilet revolution reward and subsidy funds were allocated to Zhijin County. By the end of 2023, a total of 21,800 rural household sanitary toilets had been newly built or renovated in Zhijin County during the '14th Five-Year Plan' period.
