Mobile Tourist Toilet Procurement Project
Gonghe County has carried out a mobile tourist toilet procurement project with a total investment of 280,000 yuan, funded by the second batch of central and provincial financial support for rural revitalization in 2024. The project involved the construction of a new site at the Rubber Mountain tourist spot in Luse Village, Shihai Town, Gonghe County, where two 5+2 mobile tourist toilets were installed. The construction period spanned from August 2024 to September 2024. The project has clear performance goals aimed at improving the infrastructure at the tourist spot in Luse Village, Shihai Town, and enhancing the toilet experience for visitors. Additionally, the project introduced a 'business-supported toilet' mechanism by utilizing the management rooms to set up two sales windows for local agricultural specialties, which is expected to drive income growth for at least two local residents, achieving a win-win situation of economic and social benefits.
'Business-Supported Toilet' Model
Gonghe County is actively exploring a new market-oriented operation path of 'business-supported toilets and business-built toilets.' In 2023, taking the opportunity of creating the Qinghai Lake demonstration area as an international eco-tourism destination, the county initiated a reform in tourist toilet management. By introducing professional management and maintenance teams, functions such as cultural and creative exhibitions and convenient services have been integrated into the toilets, transforming them into 'sustainable cultural and tourism stations.' This model not only provides visitors with services such as free hot water, comfortable rest areas, and sales of unique cultural and creative products but also achieves self-sufficiency for the toilets through market-oriented operations, providing strong support for the long-term maintenance and management of tourist toilets.
Pilot Projects to Enhance Tourist Toilet Management Services
Gonghe County has also launched pilot projects to enhance tourist toilet management services, identifying multiple tourist toilets centered around the Daotang River Tourist Service Center, Longyangxia Town, Longyangxia Scenic Area, Qiabuqia Town's Chengbei New District, and areas along the lake as focal points for management, service, and improvement pilot efforts. The pilot projects focus on the management mechanisms of tourist toilets in scenic areas, emphasizing the implementation of主体责任 (primary responsibility), government procurement of services, the 'business-supported toilet' model, guiding civilized toilet use, and improving service standards, aiming to comprehensively elevate the management level and service quality of tourist toilets.
