German Abandoned Container Houses
The application of abandoned container houses in Germany is extensive and creative, covering various fields such as residential, commercial, cultural, and rescue.

Residential field: Germany transforms abandoned containers into various types of residential housing to meet the needs of different groups. The 'Dock Hostel' in Warnemünde, a coastal city in northern Germany, is composed of 78 old containers, allowing tourists to enjoy views of the port and shipyard from the windows. The i31 Hotel in the Mitte district of Berlin has four special container suites on its rooftop terrace, each covering an area of 25 square meters and equipped with complete facilities. The outer walls retain rust, and there are nurseries and patio furniture between the containers, resembling a hanging garden. In the Treptow district of Berlin, there is a container student apartment with a total area of 11,000 square meters, capable of accommodating hundreds of students. The exterior is wrapped in weather-resistant steel plates, giving it a strong sense of fashion and making it popular among young people. Additionally, Germany uses containers to build transitional housing for refugees, as seen during the 2015 European refugee crisis.
Commercial and cultural field: Companies such as Daimler and H&M use container 'pop-up' stores as temporary sales spaces or promotional booths, offering exclusive limited-edition products to stimulate customers' curiosity. Under the pressure of limited-time purchases, customers spend 20% to 30% more than usual, making it an effective marketing tool.
Rescue and medical field: The German Federal Defense Force deploys temporary hospitals, rescue centers, and ambulance stations built from containers in some countries to provide emergency medical care. The German Navy also has container rescue centers that can be installed on warships. During public health crises, containers are also transformed into special medical spaces, such as the ICU wards built from containers in Italian hospitals, which can be installed quickly and alleviate pressure on the medical system.
Agricultural field: Containers are transformed into farms, forming a simple ecosystem. Fish live in the bottom water tanks, and their excrement provides fertilizer for the vegetables growing above. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables can be grown, meeting the food supply needs of small-scale regional areas.
