Prefabricated Houses in Tianshui, Gansu

Admin September 18, 2026

Typical prefabricated buildings in Tianshui, Gansu, mainly include the Tianshui Municipal Government Office Building and some old buildings on Linshui West Road in the Qiaonan area of Maiji District.

The Tianshui Municipal Government Office Building was constructed in the 1960s. Its main structure is a four-story brick-concrete building with prefabricated hollow floor slabs used for the flooring. Prefabricated hollow floor slabs were commonly used components in early prefabricated houses, offering advantages such as easy fabrication and fast construction speed. Due to partial foundation subsidence and local wall tilting and cracking, this building was identified as a Class D dangerous building by a professional institution, posing significant safety risks. It was relocated to a new site on July 9, 2026. This indicates that early-built prefabricated houses, limited by the technological level and material properties at the time, may develop safety hazards during long-term use due to factors such as foundation settlement and structural aging, requiring timely assessment and handling.

Several two-story old buildings on Linshui West Road in the Qiaonan area of Maiji District are prefabricated slab-structure buildings constructed in the 1980s. These buildings are old and severely damaged. The prefabricated slab structure is also a common form of prefabricated housing, assembled by splicing prefabricated floor slabs. Due to their long construction time, components such as prefabricated slabs in these old buildings may have experienced aging and cracking, leading to a decline in the overall structural performance of the buildings and affecting residential safety.

From these cases, it can be seen that prefabricated houses in Tianshui, Gansu, are mainly concentrated in buildings constructed early on. After long-term use, these buildings face issues such as structural aging and safety hazards. For such prefabricated houses, regular inspections and maintenance need to be strengthened to promptly identify and address potential safety hazards. At the same time, during urban renewal and renovation, reasonable handling of these old prefabricated houses should also be considered to safeguard the lives and property of residents and ensure the sustainable development of the city.
