Production of Mobile Toilets in Gannan Scenic Area

Admin October 05, 2026

The production of mobile toilets in Gannan scenic areas needs to be tailored to the environmental characteristics of high altitude, large temperature fluctuations, and ecological fragility, with targeted designs in terms of materials, structure, energy, and waste treatment.

Material Selection: In Gannan, where there are large temperature differences between day and night and strong ultraviolet radiation, ordinary plastics or metals are prone to embrittlement or aging. Therefore, weather-resistant composite materials such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or fiberglass-reinforced plastic should be used to ensure toughness at low temperatures and resistance to ultraviolet radiation.

Structural Design:

  • Bottom Sealing: Adopt a modular design with sealed treatment to block pollutant infiltration, adapt to the distribution of permafrost, and prevent soil contamination.
  • Underground Sewage Pipes: The burial depth should exceed the permafrost layer, and insulation layers (such as polyurethane foam) should be added to prevent blockage caused by freezing in winter.

Energy Utilization:

  • Solar Power: Install monocrystalline silicon solar panels with energy storage batteries to meet basic needs such as lighting and ventilation.
  • Rainwater Collection: Set up roof gutters and filtration devices to store rainwater for flushing, alleviating water resource pressure.
  • Methane Recovery: Collect methane produced by excreta through sealed fermentation devices, convert it into heat energy through catalytic combustion, and maintain the system's operating temperature in winter.

Waste Treatment:

  • Flush-Free Design: Use biodegradation technology to decompose excreta with microorganisms, reducing water resource dependence.
  • Sealed Sewage Tanks: Regularly transport to treatment stations or add bacterial agents for on-site decomposition, with the products used for vegetation restoration.
  • Integrated Treatment: After solid-liquid separation, the liquid is degraded through a biofilm reactor, and the solid is inactivated by pathogens through high-temperature composting, ultimately transforming into soil conditioners.

Layout and Maintenance:

  • Setting Density: Arrange densely in areas with high pedestrian traffic and set at reasonable intervals along hiking trails.
  • Location Selection: Avoid wetlands and wildlife habitats, and elevate the foundation to reduce vegetation damage.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Use environmentally friendly cleaning agents, regularly check pipeline patency, and scientifically arrange the working hours of cleaning staff to avoid fatigue caused by high-altitude hypoxia.

Resource Recycling: Washroom wastewater is simply filtered and used for irrigation, and excess solar power can provide mobile phone charging services for tourists, expanding the functionality of the facilities.
