Fujian Mobile Channel Toilet Billing

Admin October 09, 2026

The billing model for mobile toilets in Fujian has attracted attention, with its pricing, countdown system settings, and impacts as follows:

Pricing Standards

Initially, the mobile toilets in a certain area of Fujian had a relatively high pricing standard, with each use costing 10 yuan. This price was significantly higher than that of ordinary public toilets, sparking widespread attention and discussion among users. Subsequently, the operator adjusted the price to 2 yuan, but even so, it remained relatively high compared to traditional public toilets.

Countdown System Settings

The mobile toilets are equipped with a countdown system. After users scan the code to enter, the toilet door automatically locks after 5 seconds, and the countdown begins on the mobile phone page after payment. The operator stated that the countdown system was set up for two main reasons: first, to prevent long queues by reasonably controlling the usage time of each user and improving the toilet's utilization efficiency; second, to constrain individuals who occupy the toilet for an excessively long time, preventing them from affecting the usage of other users. However, despite the countdown, users can continue to use the toilet after the time expires. There is a manual lock on the inside of the toilet that, when locked, prevents the outside from opening, which to some extent ensures users' needs.

Impacts of the Billing Model

This billing model has placed significant pressure on users. Watching the countdown while using the toilet can create a sense of tension, especially for users who are accustomed to longer toilet times or have special physiological conditions. This tension can significantly affect their toilet experience and lead to dissatisfaction. Currently, due to the significant controversy surrounding this billing model, the local government and tourism department in Fuzhou have not yet responded to the matter, and the involved container toilets have been temporarily suspended from use. Further observation and decision-making are needed regarding how to adjust the billing model and whether it will be put back into use.
