French Bulldog Portable Toilet Training

Choose the right toilet location: First, prepare a dog toilet for the French Bulldog and lay a pee pad that matches the size of the toilet. Dab a small amount of the French Bulldog's urine on the pee pad, but be careful not to use too much. Then, place the dog toilet in the spot where you want the French Bulldog to consistently go to the bathroom, such as a corner of the house or the bathroom. The purpose of this is to use the French Bulldog's sense of smell so that it can recognize and remember this specific location.

Use a fence to enclose: Prepare a slightly larger fence to leave appropriate activity space for the French Bulldog, but not too large to prevent it from wandering around. Place the dog toilet at one end of the fence and ensure that the pee pad or the toilet is placed securely. The use of a fence helps limit the French Bulldog's range of activity, making it easier for it to defecate on the dog toilet.

Deepen the memory: When the French Bulldog defecates on the pee pad, do not remove the pee pad immediately. You can use the same pee pad multiple times because it will retain the French Bulldog's scent, which helps it become familiar with and remember this place. If the French Bulldog defecates, pick up the feces immediately, but leave a little bit of the fecal odor on the pee pad to deepen its memory of the defecation location.

Scold severely if it repeats the mistake: If you find that the French Bulldog defecates elsewhere, stop it immediately on the spot and clearly tell it 'No defecating here'. At the same time, you can gently pat its buttocks with your hand or use a rolled-up supermarket promotional flyer to give it a light tap (it makes a loud sound but doesn't hurt). This serves as a warning. After that, thoroughly clean the defecation spot to remove the odor and prevent the French Bulldog from defecating there again.

Give rewards after定点排便 (fixed-location defecation): French Bulldogs usually need to defecate within 5 to 20 minutes after eating. So, every time the dog finishes eating, you can put it in the fence. Once it defecates on the dog toilet, immediately give it a reward, such as 1 or 2 pieces of Wangzai Xiaomaotou (a type of snack) or Channibu Goat Cheese, and praise it while patting its head. Through repeated training, the French Bulldog will form a conditioned reflex and know that defecating in a fixed place can earn it rewards.
