Frame Structure House and Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

There are significant differences between frame structure houses and container houses in terms of structure, design flexibility, and application scenarios.

Structural Characteristics

  • Frame Structure Houses: These typically employ steel or reinforced concrete structures, forming an overall load-bearing system through beams, columns, and slabs. For example, light steel houses use light steel keels as the framework, with walls filled with lightweight materials, providing good stability and seismic resistance.
  • Container Houses: These are based on standard shipping containers, with multiple containers connected through welding or bolts to form the overall building. Their structure primarily consists of the container's box frame, featuring modularity and standardization for easy and rapid assembly and disassembly.

Design Flexibility

  • Frame Structure Houses: They offer high design flexibility, with floor plans, building widths, roof forms, window and door arrangements, and overall appearances customizable according to specific project requirements. For instance, light steel houses can be designed into various architectural forms based on different functional needs.
  • Container Houses: Their design flexibility is relatively limited, mainly involving the combination and modification of containers based on their standard dimensions. Although local modifications can be made through cutting and welding, the overall design remains constrained by the modular nature of containers.

Application Scenarios

  • Frame Structure Houses: They are suitable for various permanent or semi-permanent buildings, such as residences, commercial buildings, and industrial plants. Their structural stability and design flexibility can meet different functional requirements.
  • Container Houses: They are more commonly used for temporary or mobile buildings, such as engineering camps, cultural tourism projects, and emergency support. Their modularity and detachability facilitate rapid deployment and relocation, with good recyclability.

Performance Characteristics

  • Frame Structure Houses: They excel in wind resistance, seismic resistance, thermal insulation, and sound insulation, making them particularly suitable for buildings in extreme climatic conditions.
  • Container Houses: They also perform reasonably well in wind and seismic resistance but require reinforcement and modification according to specific project needs. Their thermal insulation and sound insulation are relatively weaker, necessitating enhancement through additional materials or structures.
