Foreign Movable Toilets

Admin October 11, 2026

Foreign movable toilets mainly include three types: American Honey Buckets, Dutch Pop-up Public Toilets, and Portable Toilets.

American Honey Buckets are not actual beehives but a misnomer from internet slang for the English term 'Honey bucket'. Originally, this term referred to a slang or brand name for portable toilets, but due to a mistranslation, it has become a meme specifically referring to the common portable toilets found on American streets. These toilets are typically designed simply for easy movement and deployment to meet temporary or emergency restroom needs.

Dutch Pop-up Public Toilets are high-tech movable toilets with a unique and comprehensive design. These toilets are completely hidden underground during the day and pop up at 11 p.m. at night. They use a hydraulic system that mimics the operation of an elevator shaft to achieve automatic lifting and lowering. At 4 a.m., when they automatically descend, the manhole cover fits tightly to ensure a flat ground surface. When raised at night, the movable toilet with compartments becomes available for use, and a red door handle indicates that someone is inside. In the morning, cleaning staff can directly flush the ground to maintain hygiene. The entire unit is buried 1.5 meters underground, and when raised, the slots automatically lock. The stainless-steel shell is sturdy and durable, making it difficult to leave scratches.

Portable Toilets are foldable restroom devices designed by German designer Eva Tint. They have a leaf-like appearance and are made of special eco-friendly materials. When folded, they are compact and can be stored in a woman's handbag. The product is equipped with a super-absorbent agent inside that can convert liquid into gel and prevent leakage, with usage instructions printed on the bottom. This design first gained attention from football fans during the 2008 European Cup and was later mass-produced by German companies, sold in sets of three for 4.5 euros in the European market. Initially targeted at female users to address long lines at public restrooms, it has since expanded to scenarios such as car travel and outdoor gatherings. It comes with cleaning wipes for use and can be disposed of as regular garbage after use, making it both convenient and eco-friendly.
