Foreign Mobile Toilet Flying in the Air

Admin October 08, 2026

There are indeed incidents of mobile toilets 'flying in the air' in foreign countries, mainly in the following situations:

Accidentally Swept into the Air

Under extreme weather conditions, mobile toilets may be swept into the air by strong winds. For example, during hurricanes in the United States, a gust of wind lifted two mobile toilets to a height of 30 meters; in a park in Colorado, USA, a sudden gale swept two mobile toilets up to 30 meters high, where they flipped continuously in the air, with their contents pouring down, drenching many visitors. Such incidents are usually triggered by irresistible natural disasters. Strong winds possess immense power, and mobile toilets, being relatively lightweight and having a simple structure, are easily lifted by strong winds. Moreover, mobile toilets are generally placed in open outdoor areas with few obstructions, further increasing the risk of being swept away by strong winds.

Construction Fall

In addition to being swept up by the wind, accidents during construction can also cause mobile toilets to 'fly in the air' and then fall. On a century-old bridge in Seville, Spain, a mobile toilet fell from the top of the bridge while construction was underway at the bridge's summit. During construction, factors such as improper operation, equipment failure, or inadequate safety measures may cause the mobile toilet, originally fixed at the top of the bridge, to lose its balance and fall.

Human-Modified Launch

There is also a more unusual situation where mobile toilets are modified into rocket-like devices and launched. The Michiana Rocketry rocket club transformed a 200-kilogram mobile public toilet into a rocket, allowing it to stay in the air for 38 seconds before crashing to the ground 600 meters away. Based on rocket launch principles, through specific design and propulsion systems, the mobile toilet gains sufficient thrust to ascend. However, such actions are more for entertainment, experimentation, or challenge purposes, rather than being a normal use scenario for mobile toilets.
