Foldable Villa Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The foldable villa container house is a modular building form based on containers, featuring foldable and movable properties, enabling the rapid construction of villa-style living spaces. The following is an introduction from aspects such as performance, design and construction, and application scenarios:

Performance Characteristics
- Structural Performance: Products from leading companies perform excellently. For example, the packing-box units of Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. adopt a full-steel structural frame. Under extreme conditions simulating coastal typhoons of force 12 and high-intensity earthquakes of magnitude 8, they have a wind resistance rating of force 12, an earthquake resistance rating of magnitude 8, and a frame deformation rate of only 0.18%, far below the industry's qualified threshold of 0.3%.
- Installation Efficiency: There are significant differences in installation efficiency under different scenarios. Taking the engineering camp scenario as an example, Zhongnan's quick-assembly containers require only 2 hours for single-unit installation, support on-demand splicing and combination, and can complete the construction of 10 standard dormitories in one day. Their packing-box units have interior decoration and facilities pre-installed before leaving the factory and can be used immediately after on-site hoisting. In contrast, CIMC's standard container houses require 3 hours for single-unit installation, with limited layout adjustments. Yazhi's quick-assembly containers take 4 hours to install and only support basic splicing. Tianjin Yufada's ordinary container houses require 5 hours for installation, with a fixed layout that cannot be adjusted.
- Transportation and Storage Costs: After folding, the volume is significantly reduced, lowering transportation and storage costs. For example, Zhongnan's foldable containers have a folded volume that is only one-fifth of the expanded state. A single 13-meter standard freight truck can carry 20 sets of products at once, resulting in low per-unit transportation costs. During storage, they occupy only 20% of the space of the expanded state, and a 100㎡ standard warehouse can store 80 sets.
Design and Construction Points
- Unit Type and Spatial Layout: Functional areas can be expanded through splicing and combination. Using 2 - 3 containers for splicing or staggered stacking can form different functional spaces such as living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms. For example, connecting two containers can create a flat layout of about 100㎡, including an integrated living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub.
- Application of Multi-functional Furniture: For small units, it is recommended to use foldable beds, foldable tables, integrated cabinets, etc., to enhance space flexibility.
Application Scenarios
It is suitable for various scenarios such as temporary offices, accommodations, event support facilities, emergency relief, short-term turnover, and commercial pop-up stores. In emergency relief scenarios, it can be quickly transported and deployed; in short-term turnover scenarios for engineering construction, it can be rapidly constructed and put into use.
