Principle of Foam Mobile Toilet

Admin September 23, 2026

Foam mobile toilets replace traditional water flushing with foam sealing and lubrication, generating foam through a foaming device to cover excrement and achieve functions such as odor isolation, lubrication, and sewage discharge.

Foam Generation and Injection

The core equipment of a foam mobile toilet is the foaming device, which is triggered to work by sensors inside. After the user completes excretion, the system mixes a dedicated foaming solution, a small amount of water, and air in proportion to rapidly generate a large amount of fine and dense foam in the foaming chamber. This foam is injected into the toilet bowl through pipes, covering the entire surface of the excrement. The formula of the foaming solution has been optimized to ensure foam stability while reducing water consumption. The water usage for a single foaming is only 0.1-0.3 liters, far lower than the 6-10 liters used in traditional water-flushing toilets.

Foam Sealing and Lubrication Mechanism

The injected foam forms a dense sealing layer on the surface of the excrement, with its effects mainly manifested in two aspects:

  1. Odor Isolation: The foam layer effectively blocks the contact between excrement and air, inhibiting the volatilization of odorous gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide at the source, while also preventing mosquito breeding. Some products also add natural fragrances to the foaming solution, making the discharged foam fragrant and further improving the usage environment.
  2. Lubrication and Anti-adhesion: The lubricating properties of the foam allow the excrement to smoothly slide into the collection device under the action of gravity, avoiding adhesion to the inner walls of the toilet bowl and reducing the frequency and difficulty of cleaning. This property is particularly suitable for high-frequency usage scenarios in public places.

Sewage Discharge and Collection System

The mixture of foam and excrement is collected through direct-discharge pipes or detachable fecal tanks:

  • Direct Discharge: The mixture is directly discharged into a septic tank or municipal sewage network, suitable for areas with supporting sewage discharge systems.
  • Fecal Tank Collection: Detachable sealed fecal tanks are used, which are regularly transported by dedicated vehicles for disposal, suitable for remote areas without sewage networks or temporary event venues.
The design of fecal tanks usually considers leak-proofing and corrosion resistance to ensure environmental safety during transportation.

Technical Advantages and Application Scenarios

Foam mobile toilets have three significant advantages:

  1. Water Conservation: Water usage per use is reduced by over 90%, making them suitable for water-scarce areas or temporary water-restricted scenarios.
  2. Adaptability: The operating temperature range covers -30°C to 60°C, allowing them to cope with extreme climates; they are highly compatible with different states of excrement (solid/liquid) and are less prone to clogging.
  3. Environmental Protection: The foam layer reduces odor emissions, lowering pollution to the surrounding environment and meeting green building standards.
Currently, this technology has been widely applied in tourist attractions, construction sites, large-scale events, and other scenarios, becoming an important alternative to traditional water-flushing toilets.
