Installation of Mobile Toilets on the First Floor

Admin October 10, 2026

The installation of mobile toilets on the first floor requires specific plans based on the type, and technical specifications and compliance requirements must be followed when it involves toilet relocation or the installation of independent facilities.

If toilet relocation is involved, follow these steps:

  1. Use a relocation device: Suitable for short-distance (100-300mm) relocation needs. The floor slab needs to be chiseled to a depth of about 20-40mm. Connect one end of the relocation device to the original toilet drain pipe and extend the other end to the new position. Ensure that the drainage slope meets the standard (usually ≥2%) to avoid blockages.
  2. Floor treatment and waterproofing: After installing the relocation device, use cement mortar to level the floor and eliminate potholes. When applying the waterproof layer, paint the waterproof coating to a wall height of about 200mm (not 20mm as mentioned in the reference information; this needs to be corrected to comply with actual specifications). After passing the closed-water test (water storage for more than 24 hours) to verify no leakage, lay tiles to protect the waterproof layer.
  3. Toilet installation and sealing: Select a toilet of the appropriate model according to the new position. Ensure the base is stable during installation. Use glass glue or a special sealing ring to handle gaps to prevent odors and leakage. The connection between the drain pipe and the toilet should be tightened with a rubber sealing ring to avoid loosening.

If it is an independent mobile toilet (such as an integrated facility), pay attention to the following points:

  1. Structure and materials: It usually consists of a fecal sewage storage tank, floor slab, sanitary ware, walls, a water tank, a roof, and a moving device. The main materials recommended are fiberglass or polyethylene, which are corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and easy to clean. The walls can be made of color-coated steel plates or aluminum alloys, taking into account both strength and cost.
  2. Choice of moving method: Select the type according to the usage scenario: For short-distance indoor moving, lifting or manual handling types can be chosen. For outdoor scenarios or those requiring frequent moving, it is recommended to choose power-driven types (such as electric traction) or towed types (requiring vehicle traction).
  3. Sewage treatment method: Select the type according to environmental protection requirements: Water-flush types need to be connected to the municipal sewage pipe network. Non-water-flush suction types require regular cleaning of the storage tank. Recirculating water-flush types need to be equipped with filtration and disinfection devices. Dry-pack types are suitable for water-scarce areas, but the fecal bags need to be cleared and transported in a timely manner.

Compliance and precautions:

  • If the mobile toilet involves public areas or building structure modifications (such as installation on the rooftop), it is necessary to apply for a construction project planning permit from the local planning department in advance; otherwise, it may be regarded as an illegal construction.
  • Toilet relocation involves sewer pipe modifications and waterproofing work. It is recommended to entrust professional plumbers and electricians to carry out the operations to avoid water leakage or poor drainage caused by improper construction.
  • The design of mobile toilets should follow the principles of lightness, sturdiness, environmental protection, and durability to ensure the overall structural stability while considering usage experiences such as ventilation and lighting.
