Renovation of First-Floor Cement Prefab House

Admin September 18, 2026

The renovation of a first-floor cement prefab house can balance aesthetics and practicality through design optimization and performance enhancement, creating a comfortable living space.

1. Style Design and Visual Texture Enhancement
The original structure of a cement prefab house has an industrial feel, which can be enhanced through design. For example, using exposed concrete artistic coatings preserves the natural texture and color of the cement surface, while large floor-to-ceiling windows introduce natural light, enhancing spatial transparency. If a new Chinese style is preferred, wooden elements and Chinese furniture can be combined to balance the cold and hard texture. The design of a floating staircase reduces visual obstructions and, when paired with an open kitchen and dining layout, creates a cohesive public area, enhancing spatial hierarchy and making the house feel like a large flat.

2. Basic Performance Optimization
The sound insulation and thermal insulation performance of cement prefab structures are relatively weak and need to be compensated through structural improvements. Composite wall construction is key: the outer layer can use waterproof coatings or tiles, the inner layer can be equipped with insulation boards (such as polystyrene boards or rock wool boards), and the middle can be filled with high-efficiency insulation materials (such as aerogel blankets) to form multi-layer protection; the roof can be equipped with an additional heat insulation layer to reduce heat conduction in summer. Sound insulation treatment should target doors, windows, and walls: double-glazed windows should be selected, and door seals should be installed; sound insulation cotton or acoustic panels should be embedded inside the walls to reduce external noise interference. Moisture-proof measures include laying moisture-proof membranes on the floor and applying waterproof coatings on the walls, especially in humid areas where special attention should be paid to areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.

3. Flexibility in Spatial Layout
Adjusting the positions of partitions and doors and windows according to family needs can significantly enhance convenience. For example, removing non-load-bearing walls to create an open living room and study enhances interaction; if there are more family members, independent bedrooms can be divided using lightweight partitions while retaining the transparency of the public area. In terms of door and window optimization, expanding window areas or adding skylights improves lighting and ventilation; the entrance door can be changed to a French door to facilitate the movement of large furniture.

4. Detail Handling and Functional Supplementation
The choice of flooring materials should balance durability and aesthetics: cement self-leveling is suitable for an industrial style, while wooden floors or tiles are more welcoming; if the budget is limited, carpets can be laid locally to soften the space. Lighting design should be layered: main lights provide basic lighting, while wall lights, floor lamps, or light strips create an atmosphere, avoiding the oppressive feeling of a single light source. In addition, smart home systems (such as temperature control and lighting control) can be added to enhance the technological feel and comfort of living.
