Area of Finished Mobile Toilets

Admin September 22, 2026

The area of finished mobile toilets needs to be comprehensively determined based on the usage scenario, functional requirements, and configuration standards, commonly ranging from 1.1 square meters to over 80 square meters. The specific classifications are as follows:

I. Calculation Based on the Served Population In different scenarios, the area of mobile toilets is related to the floating population over a day and night.

  • Street public toilets: Calculated per thousand people, with a building area of 5-10 square meters, suitable for ordinary street scenarios.
  • Residential area public toilets: For ordinary residential areas, it is 6-10 square meters per thousand people; for densely populated residential areas (such as unrenovated urban sites), due to limited space, 20-30 square meters per thousand people are required to meet the demand.
  • Public toilets in special venues: High-congregation places like stations, docks, and stadiums, due to high foot traffic, require 15-30 square meters per thousand people to ensure sufficient toilet stalls.

II. Division by Functional Areas The area of mobile toilets needs to meet the basic functional layout:

  • Single toilet stall size: The indoor space of a standard mobile toilet is usually 1.2m×1.4m (length×width), and can be expanded to a maximum of 1.6m×1.6m (single stall) or 3.2m×1.6m (double stalls) to adapt to different usage requirements.
  • Public restroom configuration: It should be set up with a male-to-female toilet stall ratio of 3:2 or 3:1. The accessible toilet and the double toilet each occupy 6.5 square meters, and are equipped with independent hand-washing sinks, hand dryers, and other facilities to ensure convenience of use.

III. Basic Configuration Standards According to the combination of sanitary ware, the area of mobile toilets needs to meet the minimum requirements:

  • Single-stall configuration: At least 1.1 square meters are required, suitable for simple single-stall mobile toilets.
  • Three-piece set configuration (washbasin + bathtub/shower + toilet): The total area should be no less than 3 square meters to meet basic grooming needs.
  • Two-piece set configuration (bathtub + toilet): An area of 2.5 square meters is recommended, suitable for scenarios with limited space.

IV. Recommendations for Usage Comfort To avoid interference between sanitary ware, a total area of 5-10 square meters is recommended; for a third toilet (for public or family multi-purpose use), the area should be no less than 6.5 square meters to accommodate accessible facilities and auxiliary equipment.

V. Requirements for Special Scenarios Large public venues such as scenic spots need to meet higher standards:

  • 2A-level scenic spot public toilets: The total area should be no less than 60 square meters, and for 3A-level scenic spots, it should be no less than 80 square meters. Management rooms, tool rooms, and other ancillary facilities should be set up, while taking into account space utilization and user comfort to avoid excessive expansion of the area.

In addition, some mobile toilets adopt customized designs, such as a ridge-shaped design with a length of 10 meters and a width of 3 meters (a total area of 30 square meters). The exterior walls are made of heat-insulating metal carved panels with grilles, which not only meet functional requirements but also enhance aesthetics.
