Field Portable Toilet Cleaning Methods
Admin October 07, 2026
The cleaning methods for field portable toilets should be selected based on the type of toilet, while adhering to general cleaning principles, as detailed below:

I. Classification Cleaning by Toilet Type
Flush Toilets
- Basic Rinsing: First, rinse the interior of the toilet with clean water to remove surface dust and dirt, preventing stains from solidifying.
- Deep Cleaning: Spray a neutral cleaning agent (avoid strong acids, alkalis, or corrosive cleaning agents), and use a soft-bristled cleaning brush to repeatedly scrub the inner walls, edges, and bottom, focusing on removing water scale, urine stains, and dirt from hard-to-reach areas.
- Disinfection Treatment: After thoroughly rinsing with clean water, drain the cleaning agent and dirt into the sewage collection tank; then spray chlorine-containing or quaternary ammonium salt-based disinfectant, covering high-frequency contact areas (such as flush buttons and toilet seats), and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before wiping dry with a clean cloth to prevent microbial growth.
Non-Flush Toilets
- Biodegradable Type: Regularly clean residual waste in the toilet (such as incompletely degraded solid matter), spray dedicated biological enzyme cleaning agents and degraders to assist in decomposing organic matter and suppressing odors; avoid excessive water use when wiping the surface to maintain a dry environment and preserve microbial activity.
- Packing Type: Promptly replace sealed packing bags to prevent waste leakage; use wet wipes or a neutral cleaning agent to wipe stains from the toilet surface, focusing on cleaning the joints between the toilet seat and the outer shell; spray a broad-spectrum disinfectant (such as 75% alcohol) for disinfection to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
II. General Cleaning Principles
- Equipment Protection: During cleaning, avoid seals (such as rubber rings) and sensing devices (such as infrared flushing devices) to prevent water ingress from causing functional failure; if accidentally exposed to water, immediately absorb it with a dry cloth and ventilate to dry.
- Ventilation and Deodorization: After cleaning, open windows and doors or turn on the exhaust fan to accelerate air circulation and reduce the concentration of ammonia and other odors; place activated carbon packs or spray natural deodorizers to assist in odor removal.
- Tool Management: Adopt the principle of 'one toilet, one brush' to avoid cross-use of cleaning tools; regularly clean and disinfect microfiber mops and cloths to prevent bacterial growth.
III. Efficient Cleaning Techniques
- Pre-Dry Treatment: Before cleaning, spray a dedicated foam covering agent into the toilet bowl to form a protective film that inhibits waste splashing and softens adhered matter, reducing the time required for mechanical scrubbing.
- High-Pressure Rinsing: Use a high-pressure water gun equipped with a rotating nozzle to rinse the toilet bowl, utilizing the impact force of the water flow to strip stubborn stains (such as urine scale and fecal crust).
- Chemical Decomposition: For crusty stains, select a professional cleaning agent containing corrosion inhibitors (such as citric acid), let it sit for 3-5 minutes to decompose organic matter, avoiding direct scraping that could damage the toilet surface.
By classifying and handling them scientifically, the service life of field portable toilets can be effectively extended, ensuring hygiene and user experience.
