Fan Village Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The container houses in the fan villages for the Qatar World Cup were manufactured by companies from Guangdong and the Jiangsu-Zhejiang regions in China, primarily to address the accommodation needs of a large number of fans during the World Cup.

Scale and Distribution
- Largest Fan Village: The Free Zone Fan Village is the largest fan village built by Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, located south of the capital Doha, near Hamad International Airport. This fan village consists of 6,000 container-style houses and can accommodate up to 12,000 fans simultaneously.
- Other Fan Villages: Qatar has also built several fan villages of varying sizes. For example, a fan village near the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in western Doha has approximately 900 rooms and can meet the accommodation needs of about 1,800 people.
House Specifications and Facilities
- Area and Layout: Each container room has an area of approximately 16 square meters and is typically equipped with two single beds (each about 1.2 meters wide), bedside tables, wardrobes, coffee tables, seating, and an independent bathroom (including a toilet and shower facilities).
- Cooling Facilities: The rooms are equipped with fans or air conditioners for cooling, and some rooms also have small refrigerators and tea areas.
- Living Experience: The internal infrastructure and decor of the container houses are no different from those of regular business hotels, with all facilities readily available, providing a good living experience.
Production and Transportation
- Manufacturing Companies: These container houses mainly come from companies in Guangdong and the Jiangsu-Zhejiang regions in China, such as Foshan Hechuangxing Portable House Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Zhonghui Lvjian Mobile Housing Company.
- Production and Transportation: Chinese companies provided more than 10,000 container-style houses for this Qatar World Cup. After production, these houses underwent a one-month sea voyage before finally arriving in Doha, Qatar.
Subsequent Utilization
After the World Cup, these container houses were also transported to earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey to provide shelter for disaster victims, demonstrating their value in sustainable utilization.
