Dutch-style Mobile Toilets

Admin September 24, 2026

Dutch-style mobile toilets encompass a variety of innovative designs, including fully automatic rotating public toilets, portable female toilets Yellow Spot, and elevating public toilets.

Fully Automatic Rotating Public Toilets: These toilets feature a unique interior design with two toilet bowls, designed for seamless rotation and use. Once the user steps out of the cabin, the entire cleaning process initiates simultaneously. The floor activates a full-area flushing mode, while a new toilet seat is immediately positioned on the other side. The rotated-in seat undergoes a 'car-wash-grade' maintenance process, including high-pressure water jetting of both inner and outer surfaces, spraying with eco-friendly cleaning agents, a second rinse, and finally, drying with an air knife. The entire cleaning process takes no more than 20 seconds. Additionally, the toilet floor is equipped with an automatic flushing system that flushes and then drains the water to maintain a clean and slip-resistant state.

Portable Female Toilet Yellow Spot: This yellow mobile toilet was created by Elisa Otañez, a graduate of the Eindhoven Design Academy, to protest the lack of female public toilets in the Netherlands. The toilet features a unique design, including a bright yellow curtain on wheels for privacy. The top surface of the flush toilet is angled, and the frame is made of straight tubular steel pipes connected with industrial joint bolts. The yellow-coated walls are marked with slogans such as 'Free Toilet' and 'For Women Only' to clarify their purpose. The front panel of the canvas is secured with clips, allowing easy opening and closing for user access. Additionally, the toilet has handles on the sides for easy movement and operation.

Elevating Public Toilets: The Netherlands also has elevating public toilets worth 790,000 yuan, with a clever design that makes them completely disappear into the ground during the day and pop up precisely at 11 p.m. at night, automatically descending at 4 a.m. in the morning with the manhole cover fitting tightly. These toilets are made of stainless steel and come with a built-in hydraulic system in the box, operating on a principle similar to that of an elevator shaft. When they rise at night, they bring out the mobile toilets in the compartments, with the door handles turning red to indicate occupancy. In the morning, cleaners can directly flush the floor to keep the environment clean. The entire unit is buried 1.5 meters underground, and the slots automatically lock when raised, ensuring safety and stability. The stainless steel shell is sturdy and durable, making it difficult to leave scratches.
