Double-Deck Container House Waterproofing

Admin September 15, 2026

Waterproofing of double-deck container houses can be achieved through measures such as structural waterproofing design, roof waterproofing treatment, selection of qualified waterproof materials, proper waterproofing at openings, and reasonable design of gutters. Details are as follows:

  • Structural waterproofing design: Some portable houses adopt structural waterproofing design and do not require additional waterproofing treatment. For example, K-type panel houses have a light-steel flexible structural system that meets building structural design specifications and has inherent waterproofing capabilities, reducing the likelihood of water leakage from the source.
  • Roof waterproofing treatment:
    • Application of waterproofing adhesive: Applying waterproofing adhesive to the roof can extend its service life and effectively prevent rainwater penetration.
    • Adoption of a double-layer structure: For example, the roof of an insulated and waterproof double-deck container house consists of a first rock wool panel and a second rock wool panel, with a ventilation layer in between. The side beams corresponding to the ventilation layer are equipped with several air vents. In summer, the second rock wool panel provides shade for the first one, and the ventilation layer can quickly dissipate the heat from the roof, preventing excessive temperatures inside the container. In winter, the double-layer thickened roof provides better insulation and waterproofing effects.
  • Selection of qualified waterproof materials: During the construction and renovation of container houses, qualified waterproof materials should be selected, and proper waterproofing treatment should be ensured. This helps avoid water leakage due to unqualified waterproof materials or improper waterproofing treatment after the house ages.
  • Proper waterproofing at openings: When making openings in the panels of portable houses for installing fans, exhaust pipes, etc., proper waterproofing of the surrounding cracks should be carried out. This prevents deformation of the house panels, expansion of cracks at the joints, and damage to the original waterproofing treatment due to external conditions, wind loads, snow loads, thermal expansion and contraction, etc., which could lead to water leakage.
  • Reasonable design of gutters: Portable houses should have gutters with a transverse slope and properly designed gutter outlets. This prevents water from accumulating in the gutters and flowing back into the inner eaves troughs during heavy rain. At the same time, proper anti-corrosion treatment of the gutters should be carried out during construction to prevent rusting, erosion, or blockage of the outlets by debris, which could cause water leakage or backflow.
